Dr. Chris A Freels, DDS

Following graduation, Dr. Freels went on to attend Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Before graduation in 1996, with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, Dr. Freels received recognition as a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities, National Dean’s List, and the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society.
He also was awarded the Raymond B. Seymour and Dow Chemical Awards in Organic Chemistry, and the Merk Award in Chemistry. Dr. Freels also served as President of the Pre-Dental Society, Chairman of the Sul Ross Young Republicans, and was on the Founding Committee of the Big Bend chapter of Ducks Unlimited. In addition, Dr. Freels volunteered his time to the Big Bend Regional Crisis Center, Big Bend Hospital Big Brother Mentor Program, and the College Station Special Olympics.
In 1998, Dr. Freels began his first year at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He was once again recognized for his academic excellence in …the National Dean’s List, Who’s Who, and the University of Texas Dean’s List. He was also a recipient of the Texas Dental Association, American Student Dental Association, and the American Association of Orthodontics Awards of Excellence.
Dr. Freels also served as co-director and later director of the Christian Dental Fellowship; as Secretary, Vice President, and later President of the UTDB Student Council, as UTHSC Student Intercouncil Representative; and was a graduate member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in May 2002, Dr. Freels went on to complete a two year orthodontic residency program where he received extensive training in the most advanced orthodontic treatment methods available to date.
Dr. Chris A. Freels is also a husband and loving father. Dr. Freels and his wife, Natasha, were married in August of 1996. They are the proud parents of Harrison, Ella, and Sawyer. Natasha is retired from Second Baptist Academy, where she taught as a seventh grade English teacher.
Dr. Freels has very strong convictions to serve the children of the Rio Grande Valley. His level of involvement as a student only reinforces his genuine interest in community service. He is committed to ensuring that all under served children of the Valley are given the opportunity to further their education and succeed in their lifelong goals. Dr. Freels is a member of the board of directors for the McAllen Boys and Girls Club.
Dr. Freels and his family are excited about his return to the area, and are looking forward to his years of service to the people of the Valley.
