Dr. Christen Clemmons Mckenna, MD

Was recently seen by Dr McKenna and discharged under her care… discharge papers included a prescription for a medication she never even discussed with me (and I’m taking a very similar one already) and another one I’m already taking. Had she taken 30 seconds to review my chart, she would have seen this information. And when I was asking questions about my health condition, I felt like I was inconveniencing her by asking specific questions. She was quick to offer pain meds — several times - and I declined each time as I do not want to chance an addiction, but more important to I want to resolve the cause of the pain itself that brought me in to be seen. I’m not impressed by my experience with her and I’m sorry if she was off or was having a bad day, but her colleague — a PA — who saw me a few hours earlier before shift change during intake, did a much more thorough and detailed assessment of my condition and was more professional than she was. It was a stark contrast and basically the… discharge felt like a slap in the face. Again, maybe she had a bad day. Maybe she’s a lovely person. But in my interaction, I was very disappointed.

I am writing on behalf of my husband, Rus Hamilton, who was admitted to Broward via ED with acute hyponatremia, and myself as the NOK, who spoke at length via phone from Australia with Dr MKenna in ED. We are both very grateful for her quick diagnosis and commencement of treatment, as Rus would have died with out these interventions
