Dr. Christiano Castello Caldeira, MD

After being prepped for bypass surgery at Bay Front, the surgeon there decided it was too risky the morning of surgery so I was transported to Largo. Dr. Caldeira performed a quad bypass very successfully and now, two months later, I am 90% recovered and living my life. I am forever thankful to this man and for the amazing care I received from him, his assistants and the nurses in ICU and CCU.

Dr Caldeira did this surgery for me last year and I wholeheartedly recommend him.

Shouldn’t have done lung transplant on my husband. It was almost midnight and Dr Caldeira had been working all day. I am not saying he didnt do his best. What he did was make a bad choice and converted a double lung transplant to single AND the Donor’s single lung was too big for my husband’s chest. There had been dozens of c-rays to measure the space. My husband died and Dr Caldeira avoided me until the week before he died in the ICU 5 months after the mistake. My husband was sent home twice before due to mismatch. This time he should have been sent home again. There was no backup patient for the lungs. You don’t waste donated organs but you also don’t put the wrong organ in a live patient. I would rather they had let him go home to eventual hospice than suffer the way he did. It was so awful. And in the end we were all surprised to find out that the donor had TB, something that could not be tested for on day 1, but still when that was discovered near the end I was not informed… until the sign went up on his doora d he was transferred to isolation. Yes, Dr Caldeira was just the surgeon but if he had a heart he would have talked to me. I was there every day. Susan Turnau

He is just the best ever.

He is the Best at what he does, I have a new aortic heart valve and am completely heled with no problems , and was feeling fit in two months.

***** Best Doctor ever***** I don't like to be cut, but this Dr. saved my life. Trust him with yours. I'll probably need by-pass again some day, and I want it to be at his hands !

Recently he performed surgery on my husband pedro HernandezMarrero and i was amazed of his profesionalism and his carin manners to all the family members, God bless him, one in a million!!!
