Dr. Christie Pees Thomas, MD

My kids have seen Dr. Thomas for 4 years and we didn't have a problem until recently. My 4 month old developed a cough that persisted for over 2 months. I brought him in 4 times over that period and Dr. Thomas insisted it was viral and just post nasal drip. She didn't do any testing and completely dismissed my suggestions that perhaps it was bacterial after a month of symptoms. When I called to get medical records to get a second opinion, the receptionist told me "we don't do second opinions and if you get your records for a second opinion, you might as well consider yourself no longer a patient here". I sought the threatened opinion anyway, he swabbed the baby's nose to find 2 strands of bacteria and the flu, all of which Dr. Thomas missed 2 days earlier. The new doctor prescribed an antibiotic for the bacterial infection and the baby was 100% better after 5 days. Sandhills Pediatrics seems to care more about their bottom line and their physicians' egos than their patients health. I… would highly recommend SouthernMes Pediatrics at Lake Murray instead.

Dr. Thomas downplayed and dismissed my infant son's chronic productive cough for almost 9 weeks. When I finally called to get his records to go for a second opinion, I was rudely told by the receptionist that "we don't do second opinions and if you get a copy of his records for a second opinion you can consider yourself not a patient here anymore". Turns out he had a bacterial infection and the flu. Happy to report his cough was gone after 3 days on antibiotics prescribed by our new pediatrician.

I have been taking my kids to Dr. Thomas for three years, since our cross country move. It took us a while to find a pediatricain int own that we liked, as we have chronic conditions that make us a bit more particular than someone who needs just a decongestant for a cold or whatnot. Dr. Thomas is open and honest, and is very knowledgeable. However, she is not arrogant, and is willing to not only listen to her patients, but also work wiht them toward treatment options, and will look up alternative treatments to consider as well. We have been honored to have her as part of our medical care, and I cannot reccommend her highly enough.
