Dr. Christie Susan Thomas, MD

Christy Thomas is rude, dismissive, and incompetent. She has not read your chart nor will she when you call her out on it. Her misdiagnosis percentage is over 50% if she will even offer a diagnosis. When you see another practitioner after her you will get a diagnosis with a puzzled look as to how she missed it. She told me that she could diagnose me that day but wouldn’t. She said that my X-rays weren’t bad enough. I explained to her that I had had most of my fingers and toes reset which required breaking some arthritic joints. She laughed at me and asked who had done that and then called me a liar. Believe me when you have frozen joints reset you will never forget it. I was in bed for weeks and unable to use my hands or feet. RANA gets a pretty low review for keeping her employed which would surprise me but Huntsville has a physician shortage and it’s nearly impossible to win a malpractice suite. Other physicians are not a fan of hers either. Avoid her and go anywhere else. She… needs to retire and go into a field where she can’t interact with the public. She clearly does not like this job.

Yesterday, when I went to the website to confirm the address, I saw the section "reviews". For no apparent reason, except curiosity, I read the reviews. Having seen Dr Thomas before and finding her very professional and keenly interested in my care, and after reading the reviews, I wondered if Dr Thomas and the entire staff had turned into fire breathing dragons since my last visit. Most of the reviews are shameful misrepresentations of the atmosphere I found with Dr Thomas and the entire staff. These people could not be nicer. I am extremely pleased with the quality of care and I am puzzled by the number of unhappy people who have written such misleading reviews.

Definitely don’t put your health in her hands. The 1 star reviews that you read about her are accurate.

It is unfortunate that this place is so bad, as they seem to have every rheumatologist in the area working here. Dr. Thomas has an abysmal bedside manner, doesn't take you seriously (after she has diagnosed you), and will say symptoms that obviously are from your condition, RA in my case, are not from that and try to send you to another specialist, who will validate that your symptoms (example, knee pain, and swelling) are from inflammatory arthritis. After the first couple of appointments, Thomas will literally look at your knuckles and say you look great (every three months), no further assessment or questions are needed. Look at the reviews for Dr. Jalbert in Florence or for the Vanderbilt rheumatologists in Nashville or Cool Springs (which is closer for me in Madison) and you have so many with a 4.9/5.0. Look up every doctor at RANA (with the exception of their nurse practitioner who has a great reputation) and the reviews are horrible (overall). Thomas should find a new… profession.

The ONLY reason I gave her 1 star is because I HAD to. She is heartless, rude and condescending. She barely ever even looked at me or assessed my joint swelling. All she wanted to do was prescribe drugs that I didn't want to take and instead of talking it through, she just told me I was out of luck. I went to her for 4 1/2 years because the first biologic that she prescribed worked for me. When that biologic started becoming less effective, I had to BEG her to switch me to something else. I have severe RA and she wouldn't even talk to me about how to manage my pain when I was switching biologics and waiting for the new one to take effect. Save yourself the frustration and find a different doc.

Run run run (if you can) from this doctor. Not helpful and doesn’t care. Horrible bedside manner.

Do not waste your time. I left her office so shocked at her medical advice, I could not even say a word! I was told to walk on the treadmill 10 minutes a day. I made an appointment with a nurse practitioner who actually listened and I received the help I needed.

Dr Christie Thomas is a very nice and knowledgeable doctor in the field of Rheumatology and similar illnesses! Within 10 minutes she had a diagnosis and cure for the first issue I had! Then she found an underlying problem and has controlled it well! I very much appreciate her capabilities, her experience and knowledge.

I found Dr. Thomas to be well-prepared, highly intelligent, to the point, but considerate. If you want a rheumatologist to diagnose you correctly, I think she’s the one. She doesn’t pull any punches, which tells me that she knows what she’s doing.
