Your child does not deserve to have their care entrusted to this doctor. I went to Dr. Smith as a child, as did my siblings. We love him and his staff. I was so excited to bring my baby there and even more excited when I found out some of the same staff was still there. What a wonderful trip down memory lane! Let's just say, it didn't continue that way. I am not going to go into detail, but I am so upset with the treatment we received. Dr. Canody is not who I thought she would be. I actually ran into one of Dr. Smith's family and was expressing my concern over some matters with my baby and they filled me in on several issues that led to the demise of the great practice he left her. I wish her luck and more so, wish Baycare luck in having bought her practice and having her as a physician employee. After changing doctors, we feel much more confident in the care we are receiving with our now toddler.

I started taking my grandson to this office when Dr. Smith was still there. He was great and we hated to see him leave. However, Dr. Canody won our hearts as well. She has always been top notch! Listens to our concerns, all vaccines are up to date, staff has always been friendly and accommodating, and wait time has never been unreasonable. Especially considering that when it’s your turn you get all the time you need. Never has she been sidetracked by gossip. Who are these people writing these reviews? Yes, I have seen changes in staff. After working in professional offices for close to fifty years I know there are numerous reason for a staff member to leave a practice. Family crisis, relocation, illness, career change, retirement, and on and on. I do know that Pam at the front desk has been there since Dr. Smith was there and I have NEVER known her to be unpleasant. Parents need to be proactive and know what vaccines their children need. Don’t blame others for something you failed to… do! Those who may have left this practice will soon find fault with their new practice. You will never find a doctor more competent or caring than Dr. Canody.

Dr. Canody is great with both our kids. She is a calming presence around them. They respond well to her. Canody is neither too conservative nor too radical in her treatment options. She is logical and helpful in her explanations. Many of our friends kids see her as well. Easy to get in and see her too. My son is 6 and my daughter is 3 now. It's always easy to take the kids in to see her. Both have beeing seeing her since birth. Excellent choice we made as parents! Love her!

Dr Canady, was able to diagnose my daughter with a rare genetic disorder when other Dr's had never heard of it. Because of this she was able to get the proper treatment before it was to late.

To start with, wait times are extremely long, regardless of how busy it is. She used to have a friendly staff, now they act impatient and bothered by the patients. After switching doctors, we found that our children had received sub-par treatment for years. Dr Canody dismissed a heart murmur in one of my children, while the new pediatrician was very concerned & sent us straight to cardiology. The cardiologist says this is a pretty big concern & we have a long road of tests & procedures ahead of us. Another one of my children was treated by Dr Canody for a skin condition, turns out it's not a skin condition & she has severe allergies which are causing this. We are now getting it under control. Lastly, my youngest is missing 5 vaccines! This is not good treatment! We were never aware of this and were told we were up to date by Dr Canody. She clearly is not following a proper vaccine schedule & is not being honest with her patients about it. I called her office and spoke with one of her… staff about this. I was told that this would no longer happen now that Baycare was in charge. That now they would have all the vaccines all the time. WHAT!!! I was shocked! So, they think it's OK that she was deceiving parents about what vaccines their children were supposed to receive and now that Baycare is there to pay for everything, it's all okay! I wonder if Baycare even knows about this! As for visits, she stays in the room sometimes for a good amount of time, but was typically talking to my husband or I the whole time. I'm guessing she never heard my child's heart well enough to be concerned because she was always talking, but maybe I'm wrong and her clinical skills are just poor. There were never return calls or follow ups after labs or tests. I always had to call repeatedly to get an answer. Her staff would apologize all the time, saying they gave her my message & asked her to call me back & they would keep trying. That is such poor leadership, her staff shouldn't be in that position & parents shouldn't have to call repeatedly. She should do her job correctly. Not helpful, not a good doctor, condescending, gives horrible advice and doesn't listen to parent concerns I already said this above, but thought I would reiterate, her quality of care is poor, her bedside manner at first appears great, but pay closer attention. I don't spend an hour waiting with my children or child to see a doctor who only wants to discuss irrelevant topics. I don't care about the local Tampa gossip or who's who, I care about my children's health. Sadly, their health was declining and once we realized she was offering no help, we left! If you're child is healthy, you'll probably be fine, well as long she she actually vaccinates them, correctly. My youngest is healthy but we didn't stay on top of checking every thing, thinking we could trust Dr Canody, and sure enough he didn't receive all of his vaccines. My older two had health problems which were gravely overlooked, mistreated, & basically ignored. Dr Canody seems to think very highly of herself, maybe she should step back and take a hard look at why she became a pediatrician to begin with & why she maybe isn't offering the care she should be to her patients. I personally know 12 families who have left her practice because of similar & even more issues they have had. Our new pediatrician told me that they have been flooded with patients transferring to them from her office over the past few years. Interesting fact! I hope I never run into her in public, because I don't think I will have very nice words to say to her at this point.

We went to her for over a year and finally left. Our favorite nurse left, staff left, then she sold to Baycare, we couldn't get in to see her, she acts very much like she is "better than you" when she speaks to you. She seems to care more about what she is talking about than what you are telling her about your child. I was referred to her, so I kept trying to like her, but I finally had enough. I wasn't happy with the only nurse who was left....And I believe she is not a nurse....I don't care much for the staff who is there now and frankly, I've had enough of her acting like I'm an idiot whenever I ask her a question. My child has had so many ear infections and when I ask about an ENT, she always acted like I was stupid for suggesting it and that her repeated treatment of antibiotics was enough. My husband and I finally decided to go to the ENT on our own with our child and the ENT couldn't believe we hadn't been referred get. Actually, the ENT even said she sees this same situation a… lot with Dr Canody's patients. Well we have switched pediatricians and are so much happier. I wouldn't recommend her.

I am so disgusted with Dr Canody, I trusted her with my children and she flat out lied to me. She doesn't follow the CDC guidelines for vaccines because she doesn't have the vaccines in her office. She would always say she was waiting on a shipment to come in and we would catch up next time. After switching to a new pediatrician we have never been told that we would catch up next time or that they're waiting on a shipment. Actually we are having to go in monthly to catch up on all the vaccines my child is missing. I can't believe I ever trusted her with my child's health. There's no telling what else she has lied to us about.

I am sickened, after finding out that Dr. Canody not only lied to me about my child's vaccines and what we were supposed to be getting, but after switching doctors, to find out that 2 different vaccine series were not completed. My child had to have blood work done to see what vaccines fully worked and which ones needed to be repeated. We now are having to repeat vaccines because some were came back as not being fully vaccinated against those diseases. Then I come online and start looking at her reviews and see that this is something she has done to other patients as well! And the poor diagnoses and treatment people are stating they received! I can't believe I was referred to this woman! I will be sure to spread the word that she is not to be trusted! How do you look into a parent's face and tell them that you are treating their child correctly when you know full well you are lying. I am just in shock right now! Total disbelief!

Do not trust your child with Dr. Canody! She misdiagnosed my child. Either she is lacking in skill or she is not paying attention, but her poor physical exam led to a misdiagnosis of my child. Thank goodness for good doctors who take their time and give accurate diagnosis and treatment. I would never recommend her to anyone.
