Dr. Christina Mills

I had a deeply disappointing and disheartening experience at Dr. Christina Mills & Associates on December 4, 2024. After recently moving to DC from Atlanta, I went in for a routine teeth cleaning, and based on the handful of positive reviews I found online, I thought this practice would be a good choice. Now, I’m questioning the authenticity of those reviews. The visit started with X-rays, and after the cleaning, Dr. Mills came to me and told me I needed 7 fillings and 2 crowns. Her delivery was awkward—she whispered the diagnosis into my ear without even looking in my mouth or showing me the areas of concern on the X-rays. When I asked which teeth needed work, she vaguely mentioned some upper and lower teeth but provided no specific details or a treatment plan. She said I would need to schedule a separate appointment to discuss the treatment. I asked if she could email me the treatment plan so I wouldn’t need to make a second trip, and the receptionist assured me I would receive… it later that same day. However, I never received anything. For context, my last cleaning was in May 2024 with my trusted dentist of 7 years in Atlanta, who told me that my teeth were in good shape and didn’t require any work. So I asked Dr. Mills how my teeth could have deteriorated so much in less than seven months. She suggested that my Atlanta dentist might have missed something. I requested the X-rays Dr. Mills took, hoping to get a second opinion from my Atlanta dentist. When I forwarded the X-rays to him, he told me that he saw no need for any treatment. He was also kind enough to call Dr. Mills to discuss her findings. To my surprise, she told him that she had barely reviewed the X-rays or examined my mouth thoroughly—and, shockingly, she called me a liar. I found this out when my Atlanta dentist called me back the same day after speaking with Dr. Mills. He advised me to proceed with caution, as it appeared she was attempting to over-treat me. This morning, I called to cancel my follow-up appointment and expressed my frustration to the receptionist, telling him I felt I had been lied to. His response was indifferent, and his lack of concern was truly baffling. This practice lacks honesty and integrity. Dr. Mills didn’t have the decency to call me and apologize, or at the very least, explain the situation. I am now taking further action by reporting this dishonest practice to the Better Business Bureau, filing a complaint with DC Health Regulation and Licensing Administration, submitting a dental board complaint to the American Dental Association, and filing a consumer complaint with the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. I hope my experience serves as a warning to others so that no one else has to deal with this dishonesty.
