While Dr. Z. was exceptionally warm and personable on our very 1st visit after moving to the area, she was notably intent on forcing an asthma diagnosis on my daughter who was in the office only for an annual check-up/ completion of school medical forms. My daughter is exceptionally healthy, eats very well and is active. We discussed my daughter's health and lifestyle at length, which I appreciated as we were building a rapport, but when Dr. Z. picked up on the fact that my 12 yr. old runs cross-country, she asked if she is out of breath after a race. My daughter confirmed that she is (as are all of the runners). Dr. Z. insisted that my daughter needs an inhaler and paperwork to submit to her school nurse about her "asthma condition". I let her know that was not necessary. A couple weeks later I receive a bill, which I questioned. I previously worked in HR Benefits and knew that Preventive visits should have been covered 100% by my insurance company. I found out that Dr. Z.… coded the visit in a way to imply that asthma screening/care had been administered during the visit. I fought it and had the charge waived by a helpful young lady in their billing department, but I worry that this doctor pushes for billable services over quality care. I will try another provider at this practice (warily), but would not return to Dr. Z. as trust is very important to me in a doctor-patient relationship, especially as it pertains to my children.
