Went to the er for flank pain related to chronic kidney stones. Had to wait hours in pain with no fluids or medication only to be told they’re not that busy. Typical Kaiser ER. Usually when I feel the pain come on my kidney stones are small, still in the kidney, but are crippling. I had a CT done which confirmed I had another stone. Castro told me because my stone is in my kidney and not in the ureter it is not possible for me to feel pain from it. She said I must have pulled a muscle from throwing up - even though I started throwing up due to the severity of my pain. She told me I must be confused and that my pain couldn’t be from my kidney stone because “you don’t have one”. So my stone went from being impossible to causing pain but now doesn’t exist? I was holding my CT results right in front of me. She refused to prescribe me medication and sent me on my way. Also chose my dx as flank pain and not kidney stone - false documentation is nice. I rarely take pain meds or medications… of any kind so when I truly feel like I need them it’s awful to hear my pain isn’t real. I followed up with my primary who validated my case. It’s still terrifying that anyone can claim to be a doctor with such horrific education. I despise Kaiser and their declining standards for doctors.

Poor bedside manner. Dismissed my chronic pain saying it was in my head. Too busy socializing then helping her patients.

Hurried me along through my story as if I was putting her off by being there. Did not feel I received the best through care for my belly pain and sent home with nausea medicine without much of any tests. Ended up going to a different er the next day and diagnosed with a “perforated gastric ulcer”.

Eventually diagnosed after hours with pylo, I was in a lot of pain and my nurse asked her twice for pain medication before she ordered it. Yet she had plenty of time to sit and laugh with her colleagues and nurses about thier weekends. So unprofessional. Will think again before going back to that Kaiser ER because I would never want to be cared by her again.
