Dr. Christine Ghatan, MD

Christine Ghatan, MD, is a Scripps Clinic radiologist with fellowship training in breast imaging and vascular and interventional radiology. She is an expert in oncologic and women's health interventions, with a clinical focus on breast imaging and the early detection of breast cancer. Her clinical practice includes screening and diagnostic breast imaging studies including mammography (both 2D and 3D mammography/tomosynthesis), breast ultrasound (including screening breast ultrasound), and breast MRI. In addition, she performs minimally invasive breast procedures using ultrasound, stereotactic, and MRI guidance, including needle and vacuum-assisted biopsies, cyst and abscess aspiration, and pre-operative wire and wireless localization for patients undergoing breast surgery. Dr. Ghatan's primary research interests include innovations in imaging and related devices, radiation dose reduction technologies, and physician education. Dr. Ghatan believes that compassion and clear communication are as important as achieving the highest level of accuracy and precision in medical imaging and interventions. She emphasizes a team-based approach to patient care and works closely with medical and surgical colleagues, as well as technical and nursing staff, to ensure the best possible outcomes. When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Ghatan enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family.
