Dr. Christine Marie Herdman, MD

I have had the honor an opportunity of working with Dr. Herdman for several years an am MOST grateful to her for her compassion, skills and professionalism. Dr. Herdman is a HEALER in the true sense of the word and it is an honor to be her patient.

Dr. Herdman was very short with her answers and did not listen to my complaints. Finally, after several months, she reluctantly did an endoscopy because I was having difficulty swallowing. I choked several times prior to the endoscopy. It showed severe GERD with a stricture, mucosal damage of esophagus and motility issues. She referred me to a specialist that deals with motility in Philadelphia. Now I have a feeding tube. I was diagnosed with Scleroderma. It took months and a lot of complaining for her to take me serious.

Dr. Herdman listens carefully and patiently to what you have to say. When discussing treatment she takes as much time as you need to answer all of your questions. She keeps up with the latest medical information/procedures. She is kind and knowledgeable - a great physician.

I have been to this doctor a few times. Every time it is negative. She does not listen to what you say and wants you to figure out your own problem. I know what my problem is, but she refuses to acknowledge it. I saw Dr Herdman when I moved back to Delaware from California. It was in California that I was diagnosed with Chron's Disease. She disagreed and told me it was IBS. This was the diagnosis she gave me after no physical examination and without looking at my medical records (which had not been transferred yet) along with doubting my past medical history. She also admitted she didn't want my case and wanted me on medicine she never sent in (thankfully my GP ordered it...to no symptom relief [~shocker!]). This was all my first visit with her. Why did I come back multiple times? Because my insurance sucks and they're very particular about the doctor you see. Dr. Herdman isn't the only negative about this practice. The receptionist when you walk in is always rude (it's been different… ones every time, so it's not just one) and it's impossible to get in touch with their patient coordinators (the girls who set up your appointment and let the doctor know if there's an issue). All in all, it's not worth it, especially if you're a spoonie. Next appointment is hopefully with The Mayo because insurance will finally cover that. Good luck to everyone!

The more experience she gets the harder it is to get to her. Guessing with repeat patients and their recommendation she is in demand and rightfully so. Discovered cancer in my 40 ish daughter which saved her life. She discovered AVMs in me which were very hard to find. But for her persistence I would be in real trouble losing blood and developing symptoms without any explanation or treatment. Getting harder to get on her schedule as her reputation grows. Down to earth, doesn't talk over you, sees you as a person not just another account.
