Dr. Christine Dee Northrup, MD

Dismissive and minimizes potentially serious conditions. Over the years with Dr Northrup as my primary care doctor I have had doctors I have had to go to in other areas question why my (serious) health issues were not being addressed. When I’ve explained what I had been told by Dr Northrup about my condition,I have been told that many of these do not make sense. Dr Northrup does not seem to believe in sending her patients to specialist or for potentially important testing. I now know that I have a serious condition that requires surgery. Go elsewhere.

She acted extremely inappropriately and insensitively to me, making fun of my psychological conditions, and wrongly connecting them with my pleading for her to help me find a specialist to diagnose my pain disorder (finally diagnosed later with 2 chronic illnesses when I switched to another primary doctor). When I firmly, but politely, asked her to please help me find an answer to my physical pain, she looked at me and said, half laughing, "Has anyone ever diagnosed you with borderline personality disorder?" Taken aback, since that was not the subject at hand, I said something along the lines of, "Uh, I think some psychiatrist might have considered it once" (though it had never been officially diagnosed, and in fact, was later confirmed NOT to be one of my diagnoses). She sneered at me and said, "I can tell." What a horrible thing to say to someone suffering trauma and debilitating pain every day? I left the practice then and there, crying my eyes out. I have never heard of a single… patient having a good experience with her, and honestly hope she loses her license for the way she treats her patients.

She is mean spirited.

I was a patient of Dr. Northrup's for 6 years. I recently went in for a yearly physical and was told they no longer take my insurance. I never received a letter or an indication that my insurance was a problem. Dr. Northrup told me that she would be happy to continue to refill my non-narcotic prescription until I could find a new doctor. Well it has been four months and I'm still waiting for an appointment with a new doctor. I called today to ask for another refill and was treated very rudely. Thanks for all you help. I would not recommend this doctors office to anyone.
