Dr. Christine Monson Riley, MD

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience as a patient of Dr. Riley. I felt she was very curt and rude. I felt her time was more important than me/her patient and found her availability was limited. I had fallen in my third trimester and left 3 messages with her office that I was concerned about the fall and was getting an increasingly bad headache. She wasn’t able to be reached. After 3 hours my husband took me to the emergency room. Upon being examined the ER staff finally got a hold of Dr. Riley via telephone—they handed the phone to me and Dr. Riley immediately began yelling, yes yelling, at me for going to the emergency room and scolding me about the cost of that visit. She told me that she was at yoga and had just received all of my messages. My husband took the phone from me and hung it up. The ER nurse apologized for how Dr Riley treated me over the phone—she could hear her yelling at me and rubbed my arm while shaking her head to comfort me. It was clear from what I… could over hear from the staff that this wasn’t surprising behavior from Dr Riley. It was awful and bizarre. I was worried that I injured my baby in the fall and Riley never asked how I was—- just scolded me about insurance costs! Circle back to initially meeting her —I explained I had fused discs and a Harrington rod and asked her, should I have my xrays forwarded to her—just in case I decide to have an epidural or if there’s a complication? She told me that wouldn’t be necessary. During my labor 2 unsuccessful attempts were made for an epidural—I was told without the xrays it was too difficult to access proper location in my spinal area. The delivery...my daughter on a fetal monitor...the situation was becoming very concerning for everyone in the room. I remember the controlled panic and frustration in the nurse’s voice when they couldn’t get Dr Riley to my room (with another patient I was told). I remember one nurse finally said to another nurse—basically don’t come back without her. If I couldn’t push my daughter out I was going to have an ER caesarean. Riley finally got there and my daughter was born without a caesarean. Just an awful experience.

Dr Riley's staff has always been really wonderful. I have seen the NP there multiple times, and think she is wonderful! Now that I am pregnant I see Dr Riley more frequently, and I appreciate her calm and realistic bed side manner. I have recommended her office to multiple friends and have gotten nothing but good reviews
