Dr. Salinas's evaluation of our 5 year old son's severe speech challenges was thorough, detailed, informative, helpful, and insightful. Her testing, analysis & interpretation of the data, certainly allowed us to better understand our son's challenges. Dr Salinas gave us a real and practical road map on how to modify our behavior to best help our son. In terms of professional knowledge; ability to establish rapport with our son; detailed testing and evaluation; genuine concern and caring; and sincere desire to help us and our son; Dr Salinas is outstanding. I cannot imagine that too many other psychologists in this specialized space, meet such high standards. Her expertise and knowledge is unequivocally broad and deep. She is a warm and compassionate professional who knows how to handle children in challenging circumstances. She really helped us and our son to head down the right path, and for that we will be eternally grateful. Grade: "A"++ The administrative process was so very… painful. We had 4 scheduled calls and 1 in-person meeting (several hours) with Dr. Salinas and/or her associates. Other than the initial phone meeting, every occasion was fraught with delays, scheduling and re-scheduling issues, and technical issues. On the day of the full-day evaluation, the meeting location that had to be changed the morning of the day (after multiple phone calls and visits to 3 different locations), resulting in the day starting 90 minutes after it was scheduled to start. This was not an easy obstacle with a 5 year old when the evaluation day was going to be a 6 hour day anyway, without the 90 minute delay. On other scheduled calls, as working parents, we both had to schedule a nanny, take time off work, and move meetings. To be waiting "on hold" for 20-30 minutes after the agreed upon time; or to be told, often at the last minute, that we needed to reschedule, was frustrating. We totally understand this happens once in a while; but every time? By the end it felt quite disrespectful. In terms of the final written evaluation report, expectations could have been set better. We eventually received it this morning, 26 days after the full-day evaluation. When I pushed for the final report, we were told "I will have it to you by tomorrow morning at the latest". Needless to say, that deadline came and went without the report being sent. We received the report this morning. If only follow-up and scheduling was as prompt and structured as the invoicing process, which literally occurred minutes after the sessions. Our experience would undoubtedly have been improved by (1) Dr. Salinas offering a more comprehensive explanation up-front of what the process was going to be, step-by-step, and the time frames associated with that process; and (2) a more structured administrative process and respecting schedules and verbal commitments. Grade: "F" We may continue to consult with Dr. Salinas moving forward because she holds tremendous knowledge and insight; we simply hope that the administrative process gets the attention that it sorely needs. It is such a shame to allow administrative shortfalls, that could be readily be solved with a more disciplined and structured approach, to cast a negative light on the overall experience. Horrible experience! Rude, rushes through the visit, not much help or recommendations given the amount of money time spent. Disorganized! Never would use or recommend to anyone!
