Dr. Christopher Michael Callahan, MD

I was seen at St Francis Emergency department for a migraine caused by a neck injury. I had never experienced a migraine before and I was very frightened by the pain. Dr. Callahan was so patient and thorough. He took my case very seriously and provided exceptional care. The entire St Francis staff was quick and efficient. Less than 5 minute wait time! I would definitely go back there for any emergency care.

I had brought my boyfriend up here with dental pain and Dr Callahan was more than kind and considerate. He was talking very calmy to my boyfriend who was in a considerable amount of pain. I recently was in the ER with gallbladder stones and Dr Callahan was great as usual. I feel very lucky that I got him as my ER doctor.

I recently brought my mother in to the ER and we had the privileged of being assigned to doctor Callahan. My mother recently had surgery to repair a hernia, and while she was healing we thought the weeks worth of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and constipation were normal. Finally, when the pain became too much for my mother to bare, we went in to St. Francis. We waited in the ER waiting room for less than 10 minutes (try saying that from some hospital downtown!), and when we got back into the ER, we had a fantastic nurse named Cindy. Together Cindy and Dr. Callahan found out that my mother was suffering from a bowel obstruction as a rare complication of the hernia surgery. Unfortunately she had to receive an NG tube, which was most unpleasant for my mom. Dr. Callahan seemed to truly care about my mother; he listened to her story, and filled in the gaps where the other doctors had missed. We have been to St. Francis as a family several times and have been nothing but impressed… with the compassion from the staff there. Thank you Dr. Callahan for taking us seriously and making my mom feel better!

I recently brought my daughter in to see Dr Callahan in a very busy emergency room on a weekend evening shift. She was 36 weeks pregnant and had been diagnoised with blood poisioning earlier in the day. Her infection level was increasing which required a return trip to this ED. The entire Staff and especially the ED nurse and Dr Callahan saw her within 5 min, She had a full assessment and appropiate blood work. Dr Callahan did a search as to the proper medication she should be on for her infection and completely safe for the baby. She started on the medication and within a few hours the infection showed signs of improvement.A follow up visit with her OBGYN states that was appropiate tx for Michelle and her baby. My daughter will definitly bring herself and future baby back to this hospital if the need arises, and hopes Dr Callahan will be there to care for them

Not only was he lacking in what I would consider basic medical knowledge, but he was also one of the rudest people I have ever met. I went to the ER because I had a miscarriage, and was understandably upset, everyone but Dr. Callahan was courteous and empathetic. Upon leaving, I noticed his official diagnosis was abdominal pain, and told me to come back if I experienced rectal bleeding. I told him that I found that insulting and hurtful to label my diagnosis general abdominal pain when I had experienced a miscarriage, his response was that he did not know if that was true. I left it at that, knowing there was no point in furthering the conversation, and walked out in tears. He should not be practicing medicine in any way, shape, or form.
