After graduating from the University of Iowa with his doctorate of dental surgery degree, Dr. Cowherd has had a wide range of experience in community health, private practice and teaching at the University of Iowa. In dental school, he was awarded student of the year for Special Care and Geriatric dentistry. He also did his undergraduate work at the University of Iowa graduating with honors in Exercise Science. Dr. Cowherd’s commitment to excellence has never receded. He holds memberships with the American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentists, and Iowa Dental Association.
Today, at Walnut Creek Family Dentistry in Windsor Heights, Dr. Cowherd continues to extend himself, offering patients a wide range of innovative, comfortable, personalized dental care. He enjoys working with children, teens, adults, and the geriatric population. In addition to general dental care, Dr. Cowherd has extensive training and experience with cosmetic …dentistry. He is also in tune with the latest developments in dental science, and he regularly excites our team by bringing in new tools and technology. He prides himself on making people comfortable and educating them about their oral health.
Away from the office, Dr. Cowherd reinvests in the local and global community by providing professional dental services to people in need. His volunteer work has included regular shifts at the free medical and dental clinic in Iowa City, participating in Mission of Mercy, and an unforgettable mission trip to Costa Rica. He looks forward to participating in many more missions in the future.
Dr. Cowherd is married to Lindsey Meder and they have one child, Madeleine. They are members of Holy Trinity Church in Beaverdale. In his free time, the doctor enjoys reading, running, sports and spending quality time with his family and friends.
