I had a double mastectomy and lattisimus dorsi flap surgery with implants last year due to the second bout with breast cancer. Dr. Crisera was very patient with my questions. He and his coordinator Marine we nice and so respectful of my difficult to deal with mother. Marine helped me get things scheduled within the year to help with my high insurance deductible. My only issue is that I wish I better understood what he was going to do to my body. My chest looks really weird on the side where the muscle was moved. I wish he had shown me after photos before the surgery. While I had been told that the implants would need to be replaced within 10-12 years, it wasn't until the last visit that he mentioned many women have problems with the implants (I presume due to their bodies rejection of the foreign body?) not due to his work. I was bothered by his telling me this at the very last meeting. Perhaps he told me this at the beginning when I was considering whether to have implants but I… don't believe so.

Dr. Crisera performed double mastectomy with reconstruction on me 3 years ago. My breasts are uneven and he failed to address ongoing pain symptoms, instead prescribing large amounts of medication to get rid of me.

I saw Dr. Crisera for a consultation for the DIEP flap breast reconstruction due to breast cancer. I instantly felt uncomfortable and negative. He was clear about the surgical process but very clinical. His surgical coordinator made me feel rushed in making a decision as well. I felt as if they were pushing the DIEP surgery but I was also considering implants. In the end, I chose Dr. Festekjian. He was compassionate, funny and made the decision much easier. Breast cancer is no joke and having someone you feel comfortable with is so important.

Thoroughly explains surgical procedure: risks and favorable outcome by percentages. The actual reconnection of blood vessels and so forth. Gives you viviid description of outcome and follow up of normal procedures after main surgical intervention.

Couldn't ask for a better specialist. Dr. Crisera may have a wait to get in to see him for elective surgery but that's due to a high demand for his exceptional work. The negative response from the other reviewer is NON-SCENCE... I would highly recommend Dr. Crisera. You won't be disappointed in his microsurgeon skills. I went to over 15 other surgeons throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County for initial consultations and am fortunate to have found this doctor.

I feel Dr. Crisera is very arrogant, he had no compassion for my situation as a breast cancer survivor awaiting reconstruction. He is on vacation or at conventions too much of the time. Even when there were concerns, he brushed them off, that it was not likely and scheduled a checkup for these issues weeks after they began. Never ever again would I trust the 'UCLA' status when chosing a plastic surgeon for this very important and emotional time in my life.

I had a deip flap mastectomy in 2010 and Dr Crisera did an amazing job. He was a wonderful doctor through the whole breast reconstruction experience (almost 2 yrs with me) and I would HIGHLY recommend him. He has that rare combination of expert skill and expertise, caring bedside manner, and humility. In my 16 yrs of medical/cancer experience, I have not met another dr/staff team to compare.

Dr.Crisera is excellent-gentle manner and did a perfect job on my breast reconstruction. I fully trust him.
