Dr. Christopher Eric Hamilton

I was referred to Dr Hamiliton for right hip replacement. It was in March 2021 when I first met him so of course still wearing masks from covid. I wasn't too sure about him, hard to tell someone's true demeanor when most of their face is covered. I figured his cocky attitude was because he was good at what he did. Unfortunately, I have since learned that is not the case. I should have gone with my instinct but, my hip was bone on bone and had been that way for years due to not being diagnosed correctly. I was in extreme pain and didn't want to "shop" around. The first thing I discover after physical therapy and being able to walk and stand unaided is my new hip/leg is now longer. I have to wear a 2 inch lift in my other shoe to stand evenly. If I don't utilize the lift than when I stand for any length of time I have to stand supported on one leg at time which tires my legs out and makes my back hurt horribly. Or I have to stand legs apart like Peter Pan. If I want to wear sandals or… any type of nice heel with dresses than I just have a pronounced limp. When I brought up the leg length to Dr Hamiliton he was very blasé about it. He had me get up on the table grabbed my ankles and yanked on my legs and said yep just a little off. I was also having pain down the outside of my thigh from my hip down to my knee and numbness on the front of my thigh. The pain on the outside was so bad if I brushed up against anything or if my dog jumped up and hit that spot I would literally scream from the pain. Not much was explained or done to help with that. When I kept questioning it I was told it was the the IT band and bursitis. I was given a cortisone shot which immediately helped but, it wore off before I could get another one. When I complained again about the pain I was told the IT band was too tight. I asked why it was tight and was told by his PA that some people just have tight tendons. I replied mine wasn't tight before the surgery so why would it be tight now? No, answer was given and he would not do another cortisone shot. I was also experiencing issues going up and down stairs and going from standing to sitting. After I was in a car accident I was sent to see another orthopedic doctor and I checked my records from Dr Hamiliton office to take anything pertinent with me to the new doctor about my hip replacement. I discovered that Dr Hamiliton had written about the leg length discrepancy he wrote in the chart that I mentioned it but, was not upset about it. Which was not true who is not going to be upset about having to wear a 2 inch lift in their shoe and not have shoes fit properly with that bulky thing in there. Anyways, I see this new orthopedic doctor and explain the pain down the outside of my thigh which is still killing me and the numbness on the front. The numbness on the front is bad enough I have cut myself while doing yard work and not felt it and only realized I was cut because of the blood running down my leg. The issue with stairs, sitting to standing etc. Low and behold he shows me my x-ray and explains that I have an impingement. It was explained to me that the space between the pelvis and femur was too narrow. The spacing was not matched to my left side. Hence why the IT band is too tight, the bursitis, and why it hurts to go from sitting to standing or trying to climb stairs. The worst part about all of this was being gaslighted about the pain and dismissed that it was not a big deal by Dr Hamiliton or his PA. I am absolutely glad I had the hip replacement that pain was horrendous and my quality of life was extremely diminished. I just wish I didn't now have to deal with this whole new set of pain for the remainder of my time on earth or until my hardware wears out and it can be replaced and my leg can than be spaced correctly.
