Dr. Christopher Irobunda, MD, PhD

Dr. Irobunda has always stood out in my memory as a caring, warm cardiologist with fabulous bedside manner. When he cared for my dad back in 2005, my father was 93, and diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm. Without true cardiac disease and quite elderly, Dr. Irobunda made the right call not to do invasive surgery despite the fact that my dad was an excellent candidate, with with no debilitating diseases of old age and surprisingly not even on any medications. He was convinced that this condition would not take my dad’s life, and ultimately it did not. During each visit, Dr. Irobunda would dance around the examination room with my father, hug him, and remind him that at his age, there were no studies with which to compare him. He talked and listened and gave my dad his time and most importantly, his encouragement and kindness. One day, Dr. Irobunda even spent time with me, investigating the potential connection between my migraines and auras and a condition called Patent Foramen… Ovale. He showed me the hole in my heart, and guided me about future implications and care- and I was not even his patient. In reflecting back on Dr. Irobunda, I would recommend him with highest accolades. He even took the time to write a note of sympathy when my dad passed away shy of 100, and not of that aortic aneurysm, as the doctor has predicted with impressive accuracy.

I was referred To Dr. Irobunda from my Pulmonologist, Dr. Thomashow. I couldn't be any happier. Dr. Irobunda is always looking out for the patient and has a great bedside manner. As they say, "a great find". NG

Dr Irobunda is a very knowledgeable, professional, warm and caring cardiologist. I've been going to him for years. He always takes his time with me and is very thorough. I can easily share all my medical concerns with him and some personal issues too. It's wonderful having an excellent Dr that makes you feel comfortable from day one. He has a sense of humor too which is an added plus. I highly recommend this qualified cardiologist .

My husband had open heart surgery At Columbia Presbyterian last May. The brilliant surgeon saved his life. He was then assigned to Dr. Irobunda, who did absolutely nothing to help him. MY husband walked around with severe edema for weeks, which Dr. Irobunda did nothing about. When my husband developed a urinary tract infection, Dr. Irobunda did not bother to refer him to a urologist. Instead he announced that he was a cardiologist and walked away. He refused to even make another appointment. My husband wound up in the emergency room of another large teaching hospital where his primary care doctor had privileges. Within hours my husband was seen by a wonderful cardiologist who did something about his edema and referred him to a cardiologist. This physician saved my husband's life. Dr. Irobunda almost lost my husband's life! Clearly this man is on an ego trip which has nothing to do with the practice of medicine. Avoid him at all costs!

Dr Irobunda provided me with superb care. It was the 3rd cardiologist presented with my heart condition and was well aquainted with the necessary procedure for getting me well. I highly recommend him.

I have been in the hospital with my father after he had heart surgery. Dr Irobunda has been fantastic in diagnosing his condition, arranging surgery and follow-up. He had been to several doctors who could not diagnose the issue. He is always there for my dad and my family. Great doctor. Only wish we found him earlier.

If you're looking for actual medical advise, look elsewhere. As I was being tested, it was clear that the staff was simply going through the motions so they can collect my fees from the insurance. The doctor dismissed my concerns because I am young, however my discomfort and sharp pains continue. They seem to have misplaced my records as I called a week ahead of my appointment with my PCP to get a copy and they couldn't locate them. I'm going on a trip and I won't be able to evaluate my risk w/o these records.Worst experience from a visit to the doctor.

I absolutely adore Dr. Christopher Irobunda. He takes his time and is very thorough in asking questions, looks at all different angles on my condition, did all the necessary tests to find out more about my condition and would ocassionally call me personally to check on how I'm feeling or if my medicine is working. I believe he's one of the best!

This doctor was mediocre at best. Very disappointed in the care I received at NYP and with this physician. I will seek out a new cardiologist and I will definitely not have any more cardiac procedures performed at Columbia Presbyterian
