Dr. Christopher B Mathis, MD

Dr. Mathis is serviceable for annual wellness exams. If looking for a primary care doc that will be competent and time-sensitive for other needs, I would look elsewhere. My experience was that he and staff were goal-oriented in terms of maximizing billing. There is a reason he has more availability than other PCPs in the area. I don't expect much from docs and he disappointed in an impressive fashion.

In between making light of my pain and ignoring my pleas for care Dr Mathis sent me on my way without any relief. He said I’d need to wait 4-6 weeks for the pain to go away from my car accident, dismissed my sciatica, ignored the fact that I had a previous injury in the same location which I believe has been further damaged and reagravated and refused to arrange for an MRI to ensure I wasn’t at risk for further injury after a car accident. He didn’t even touch my back. Had me hold me arms out and bent over a few times but provided zero actual assessment for my back through palpitation or other methods. Find another doctor. This one is an arrogant, dismissive fraud.

I really liked Having Dr. Chris Mathis as my doctor but he left and went up to UNR with out letting me know. I'm always well so it's not really a big deal but I was shocked when I was calling to make sure that he was still on the insurance program that I'm switching to! So if you are a student at UNR, he's great.

Dr Mathis is one of the best family doctors we have had in a long time. He listens and talks over all options without rushing. Even though he does not like to give antibiotics immediately for some ailments, he does when it is necessary. Very open and great bedside manner.

After 1 1/2 years with this Dr (and I did like him when I first met him), he has never prescribed me anything. He just refers me to specialists for things my primary care physicians have always handled before. His front office staff was nice, but nurse was snotty. They do not seem to talk as if you can actually get thru to a human after pressing "2", you are given info that is later contradicted by nurse. As I had just moved here, he stated that when I needed to change prescriptions to him from my out of state Dr., that is would be no problem, however, when I did, he said he would not fill and I had to see a specialist. I am not sure if he actually treats anyone.
