...by seeing you. He is obviously uncomfortable with older patients. He keeps a multi layer firewall between himself and patients. Practically impossible to communicate with him. Messages and faxes to him from other providers are often lost. The message was "he is too busy to bother with that." He calls himself a "gatekeeper". Meaning he will pass you off without even an office visit.

I went to Dr. Palmer in search of a new PCP after my insurance changed. I had recently been experiencing some symptoms that were causing major issues in my life. Extreme fatigue, rapid weight gain, painful cystic acne, sudden hair growth in unwanted places, and pain in my neck (in the thyroid region) that made it difficult to swallow. Dr. Palmer told me the pain in my neck was "probably a pulled muscle", which is a level of diagnostics I've only seen at family reunions when my aunts get together. He then spent the entirety of the remaining appointment informing me that I'm getting old and should probably squeeze out a couple kids before my ovaries shrivel any further, and trying to pressure me into gastric bypass surgery. I immediately shot that down and asked instead about a dietitian referral and exercise plan. I'm overweight, which can cause health problems, I get it. But I refuse to have surgery. Nope, I should have gastric bypass, even though I have no co-morbidities and my weight… is not even in the range recommended by the Bariatric Association. I left his office with no answers, feeling fat and old, my only prize a xeroxed copy of THREE bariatric surgeons and their contact info. I suffered with these symptoms for another 6 months before I was finally able to see someone else. I saw a Nurse Practitioner at a different office on Wednesday. By Friday I had a diagnosis, two prescriptions, an action plan, and a follow up appointment scheduled. The worst part, though? I'm STILL making payments for Dr. Palmer's Guide to Ignoring Your Patients. If you're thinking of going to Dr. Palmer because of some concerning symptoms, take my advice: you're better off lighting your money on fire in the backyard. You'll get the same NOTHING result, but you'll still have your self-esteem intact. :D

This was the rudest doctor to my 15 year old. He even told him one of the classes he was taking at school was a "waste". I have struggled to get him back to the doctor ever since. He was assigned to us as every other doctor we have seen has left this practice. The doctors listed above on this page are not even there anymore. The other NP you might be able to see is on maternity leave and they did not think about someone to fill-in while she was gone.
