Dr. Christopher Wood Pergrem, MD

I had the misfortune to be a patient of Dr. Pergrem at Good Samaritan Hospital in May, 2022 for acute chest pain, extreme shortness of breath & low blood pressure. After many tests, he concluded that since I did not have a heart attack or blood clots, I should go home and drink a lot of water, take Advil and wait to see a primary care physician after the long holiday weekend. Nine days later, I required open heart surgery due to extreme constrictive pericarditis. The layer of solidified build up around my heart was over 1 cm thick. If Dr. Pergrem had communicated with me about the abnormalities in my tests (he did not) or paid attention to the signs of a serious problem (he did not) I could have perhaps recovered with a needle fluid withdrawal or small surgical procedure. He completely discounted everything happening to me in favor of getting me out of his ER. I nearly died and have permanently lost my pericardium. I will NEVER return to Good Samaritan Hospital. The week I spent in… the (different) hospital and the subsequent recovery was slow, painful and terrifying. It didn't have to happen. He left me heart broken. LISTEN to your patients. I have never felt so discounted or neglected.

I was in the ER last night. Found him to be very personable, professional and good doctor who explained things in an understandable way.
