This community has provided my family and me with a very high quality of life. I grew up in Mukilteo and stomped around the Cascades and the San Juans with my parents, climbing mountains and kayaking since I was 10 or 11. I graduated from Mariner High School in 1989, where I played soccer and was part of the Honor Society. I started cycling with my dad when I was finishing high school and found my enthusiasm for mountain biking when I got to college.
I went on to get my …Bachelor of Science in marine biology from the University of Puget Sound. That's where I got to play lacrosse at the college level. It's also where I met the band I helped form. I've been performing, recording and songwriting in some shape or form ever since, and still pick up the acoustic and electric 6-string and bass guitars.
After immersing myself as a musician for a few years, I went on to Creighton University to receive my Doctorate in Dental Science before establishing Cascadia Dentistry in 1999. With any luck, I'll pass those parts of my life on to my son! I'm pretty sure I have a few more decades of music, cycling, mountain biking, mountaineering and skiing to share.
Stanwood and Camano Island have been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I would spend summers on Livingston Bay, and year by year, I grew roots in this area. That's why I decided to start my practice here. It felt familiar and comfortable.
I met my wife, Mondie, when I was in high school. Ironically, we swam in the same social circle, but never dated, and had crushes on each other without either of us realizing it. Ten years pass, and we have our first date. We got married in 2003. Our son, August, came along in 2006. That kid is a gem, but he is out of control and 110% boy.
As for the future, I hope to discover a teaching position in dentistry when I finish my commitment to my patients. And I took up sailing recently, so there's probably sea travel on the horizon.
