Dr. Christopher S Rumana, MD

My experience with Dr. Rumano as a patient was very disheartening, disappointing, and an untrustworthy situation. He never reviewed my MRI with me and he is very uncaring and unsympathetic to my excruciating pain. I was in so much pain, I cried and sobbed. I even asked Dr. Rumano for a referral for pain management and counseling, because I was at the end of my rope in dealing with my excruciating pain for thirty days plus. It took a while to get in to see him since I was under worker's compensation. Dr. Rumano never referred me for pain management or counseling for my emotional and mental depressing condition which resulted from my injury. Whatever I stated to him about how I was feeling and my pain level, he ignored it all. Even as he did his dictation during my office visit, he never dictated one word that I actually said. My forms were always not fully completed after my visit with him such as my diagnosis, my limitations, restrictions and whether I could not or could return to full… duty. I know I can't return to full duty because I am still having excruciating pain when I walk or do any chores at home. I later found out that Dr. Rumano stated that he did not want to see me anymore as a patient (WC). How can a licensed physician who chose to work for worker's compensation refuse to see a patient? If he's refusing to see me, why did he sign up for residual income from worker's compensation? If he can't find out medically what's going on with me why didn't he refer me to someone else? Monitor your health and record your visits and record what is done on your visits and take someone with you that can be your witness on your visits.

I truly appreciate Dr Rumana. He was very professional and he took care of my needs. He made sure that everything that needed to be explained was explained properly. And he did an excellent job on my neck surgery. You cannot even see the cut. Thanks Dr Rumana you are the best....

Was seen for herniated discs and sciatica because I am a workers comp case once he decided I wasnt a surgery patient and I turned down steriod injections in my spine(minor surgery and he would get more $$$) he refused any other treatment options for my chronic pain...and also was rude

I had a consultation w/ Dr. Rumana to determine source of sciatica. He reviewed the mri study ( ordered by primary ) & concluded nothing was wrong with me. He is entitled to his opinion, but I did see another Dr. who performed a surgical procedure for a legitimate condition. His staff is very rude. When asked how much he charges insurance company they replied $500.00. When I commented rhetorically regarding that amount the girl snarked back " well he is a neurosurgeon". Dr. Rumana is devoid of personality and lacks basic empathy for others. You will feel hurried through your meeting even though he doesn't offer a lot of information. In addition, do not ask for pain medication because he will treat you like a meth head. Two of my relatives have had experiences with Dr. Rumana. One seemed satisfied with their outcome. The second had lumbar surgery performed only to have a second procedure less than a year later.

I was diagnosed with bulging discs (L5-L6), by another physician. The bulge(s) were causing numbness in the Rt leg/foot. Dr. Rumana performed my surgery, which immediately gave me relief. Two years later, this problem with the same symptoms cropped up again. I returned to the Dr. who made the initial diagnosis, who informed me that I would need to have surgery again to correct bulging disc. This is when I learned that Dr. Rumana had only corrected one of the bulging discs. The question is not if I will need surgery, the question is when. Overall I really believe that Dr. Rumana is a good surgeon but he really needs to improve his bedside manner. Perhaps it is just his personality but it seems that he only interacts with patients minimally. You will wait into perpetuity, first in the waiting room and then in the patient room. All of a sudden he will come in and your visit will go from 0 - 60, in a quick hurry. When he talks, its entirely too fast. During his visits, you can expect… lots of dull silence. In my opinion, he's not approachable. I know he's busy but his affect is FLAT, which causes him to come across as uncaring. As I get older, I tend to be more aware of the services I pay for. I don't expect providers to be my BFF, but don't expect my interactions to be uncomfortable. The only reason I have known what was happening during my visits with him is because of my academic training. Absent that, I would have been as confused as I'm sure many of his patients must be. He's not unfriendly, he's just not friendly.
