I saw Dr. Christopher Thomas as a new patient while trying to establish care after moving to the area. During my visit, I explained that I had been diagnosed with Diabetic Retinopathy and was concerned about my eye health. I was told that because my blood sugar was within an acceptable range, there was nothing that needed to be done, and no referral to a specialist was discussed. Because I was still concerned, I sought care on my own. I was then evaluated by an ophthalmologist and diagnosed with advanced diabetic retinopathy, requiring urgent treatment to prevent potential vision loss. While I understand that not every provider will be the right fit, I believe concerns like this should be taken seriously and followed up with appropriate guidance or referral. Patients depend on their providers for that direction.
