Dr. Christopher M. Wicker, MD

After over 10 years as a patient, I have had a terrible experience with Dr. Wicker's staff that has now left me without a doctor. It began when I made a Wellness appointment some 4 - 6 months in advance. I had my lab work done a week prior to that appointment. I showed up for the appointment, only to learn that my appointment had been canceled and resheduled by the Office Administrator, all without my involvement or knowledge. As I learned later, this had been done, without my knowledge some 3 months before my appointment. Yet no one bothered to call me or send me a letter. When I spoke to the Office Administrator the day of my scheduled appointment, he lied and said that he had called me. I told him he had not. He called me a liar and laughed as I became more upset over the issue. I knew Dr. Wicker was booking appoints 6 months out and that my lab results would be useless by then, not to mention I had health concerns to discuss with him. After that, I calmed down for… about 3 days and called to reschedule my appointment. A very nice woman answered and was communicating with Dr. Wicker on working me in as soon as possible. Then, the Office Administrator, who had caused the problem, took the phone and began to lectrure me about having gotten upset about my appointment being canceled and arbitrarily reset; being lied to; being called a liar; and about being laughed at for being upset. Rather than become upset again, I hung up the phone. After over a week, my wife contacted the office about rescheduling my appointment. Dr. Wicker insisted that before he would, I had to apologize to the Office Administrator, with whom I had gotten upset after he lied to me; called me a liar; laughed at me; and lectured me about being upset. This is a poor way to treat a patient of over 10 years. I am sorry to lose my doctor, of which Dr. Wicker is a good one, but I think it very poor patient service to not only allow this to have happened, but then to embrace the beharior of the Office Manager as he did. If you want to risk being mistreated by an Office Administrator and havoc wreaked upon your calendar and schedule, then this may be the place for you. Otherwise, find a doctor as good as Dr. Wicker, but who believes hat patients should be treated professionally, fairly and with dignity, by not just the physicians but also the staff.

Dr. Wicker listens to the patient before he starts contributing any input. He has a passion for his work and it shows in the effort he is willing to exert to solve any issue. I have been in and out with 4 different family members with some very serious issues. He treats each one with respect. This is a doctor who is in the profession because he has been "called". In other words, he is truly an EXCEPTIONAL doctor!!
