Dr. Chuong Huan Nguyen, MD

I honestly don't know how this man is practicing medicine. He was my assigned Hospitalist while I was inpatient at St. Peter's Hospital and from the start made poor decisions as to my medical treatment. His bedside manner is awful and he does not listen to patient concerns. It became clear that I was becoming worse under his care, not just because of his poor treatment choices, but because of his poor treatment of me. If I tried to share concerns, he would speak over me and tell me I wouldn't get better unless I listened to him. I expressed concern that my urine had been dark orange for more than a week and that perhaps I was underhydrated in my IV to which he said, "I don't care what color it is as long as it isn't red (blood." He was rude and disrespectful towards me on every occasion, often in front of nurses and my husband. At one point he put me on extremely high doses of pain medication and then abruptly took me off, blaming himself for this mistake but leaving me to bare the… brunt of it, which resulted in multiple days of unbearable pain. For those of you who are stuck with this awful doctor, please know that as a patient you have the right to ask for a new hospitalist. I was fortunate to finally get a new hospitalist who was able to treat my bowel obstruction with the proper medication and who treated me with respect and compassion.
