Dr. Brickell always answers her phone. She is attentive, kind and takes the time to help parents through tough moments in the lives of their children. My daughter feels comfortable with her and sees her regularly.

Its funny, to this day. I am still at the edge of my seat with the ignorance of the health care system, and psychiatric field.. The misleading information from this "Psychiatric doctor" had caused myself a world of current health-care debt, only to never encourage to change any course of my diet within that span time.. WHICH SOLVED EVERYTHING. Your entire professional staff should be ashamed of yourself for I spent at McLeans hospital for 7 years of bull-crap psychiatric meds. SSR LIES. There is no illness that can be combated with Alkali minerals. Your field is only liable to those who have no knowledge about bodily chemistry. Pathetic excuse for a "Doctor"

Dr. Claire Brickell is an AWESOME psychiatrist. She is bright and organized, prescribed a very helpful medication as well as the correct dosage, and I really enjoyed my sessions with her: She made me feel comfortable and they were always helpful. She was always on time as well. I would have liked to have used her for therapy as well if I did not already have a therapist. Dr. Brickell was in contact with my therapist, which was great in coordinating my care well. I highly recommend Dr. Brickell to anyone seeking a competent and caring psychiatrist.

Although I found Dr. Brickell was a very nice person, in the end her care for me was quite disappointing, leaning on the edge of actually hurting me. .(I saw Dr. Brickell for approximately 9-10 months). We had made a plan in the first meeting of what we would be doing with my medications (I have bipolar II and PTSD). At first she followed this plan of getting me off all the medications my previous doctor had prescribed and putting me on MAOIs for my depression. Things with her started to go downhill when she took me off Effexor. She gave me 2 weeks to get off the Effexor. I spent a month vomitting and had such horrible vertigo, I couldn't stand or sit up. She did nothing about these symptoms. I ended up in the emergency room 3 times within in a month for dehydration. Luckily, my spouse is in the medical profession and got so worried about me, looked up on the Internet on what to do about Effexor withdrawal. My spouse found out that Zoloft helped ease the withdrawal symptoms. … When I told Dr. Brickell she was like okay, I'll prescribed you some Zoloft. Once the side effects subsided, I was still on the Zoloft for another 5 months. There was no reason for me to be on this medication anymore, but she continued to prescribe it. I had tried Zoloft before for depression and it didn't work. The last three months she was so busy with the other hospitals she works at and a month long trip to Peru, she totally dismissed our plan of putting me on MAOI anti-depressants after I asked her that it was time to get me off the Zolfot because I didn't need it anymore and I wanted to get back on our original plan of trying MAOIs. But as she put is, they were too much work to deal with, even though we had agreed in the beginning that SSRIs did not work for me since I had tried a good half dozen of them. Also I went the last three months of my time with her with little to no sleep. I'm talking about maybe if I was lucky I would get about 2-3 hours of sleep in a 48 hour period. She told me that as a resident many times she had to be on call for 48 hours and maybe got only 2 hours of sleep during that time and she did fine with such little sleep and that I would be fine too. When she got back from Peru and I asked her why she let this go on for so long, she at first tried to talk her way out of not actually saying what she did and then told me her meaning was that I just needed to relax and then I would be able to sleep. Then a few days later, I had a complete breakdown and ended up in the hospital (I believe because I was so out of my mind because I had gone so long without sleep). I finally went to my PCP who immediately agreed I needed sleep medication and no one should (especially someone with mental health issues) go that long without sleep. She might be a good doctor one day, but I believe she has a lot to learn. I stopped seeing her after the breakdown.

Dr. Brickell wasn't always honest. She would come up with a plan and then change it mid-way. She left me hanging without a psychiatrist. Wouldn't recommend.
