Dr. Clara Markovits, MD

Only one star because I had to leave something. She has no bedside manner at all and is flat out rude. I have an autoimmune disease that has been clearly defined by blood work from multiple doctors, as well as having severe symptoms. She has argued with the diagnosis time and time again but cannot tell me why or diagnose me with anything else. She is not up to date on available treatments and is not willing to communicate with other doctors I am seeing and has made multiple negative comments about them.She is disorganized, discombobulated and has poor availability. She has actually rushed me out of the exam room and told me “Enough of this” or that “She she is not doing this anymore.” She will also completely refuse even the notion of filling out FMLA paperwork or any other disability paperwork, which is actually illegal. She does not seem to care at all nor does she seem to want to help her patients. I hope she is never in the position where she has a medical issue with a doctor who… is unsupportive and rude. Actively looking for another rheumatologist.

My old rheumatologist moved upstate and I had to find a new one, the office recommended Dr. Markovits. She seems very nice and cheerful at first. It was my first visit with her so she did a basic physical exam and ordered for me to get blood work done. I saw my previous doctor for four years, she is the one who originally made my diagnosis. For some reason, she didn't seem to believe that I have lupus, but there might be "something else" going on, so it is funny to see someone else mentioned her saying this to them. She would barely let me finish my sentences when I was answering her questions. Kept interrupting me. She treated me like I was exaggerating the state of my disease. I am apparently "too young" (late 20's) to be this affected by my disease. My next visit, we went over my blood work results. She did not order any x-rays as my previous rheumatologist did while making my diagnosis. She noted that my ANA was elevated, yet did not give me a direct answer as to if she is… re-diagnosing me with lupus or not. I needed to get FMLA paperwork renewed because I am dangerously close to losing my job due to my disease. I didn't realize it was running out and just missed my old doctor before she moved upstate. Dr. Markovits refused to do the paperwork for me and didn't tell me why, just that she "can't". Meanwhile, I had the same exact results of testing as I did last time with my old rheum. I still have the same level of pain and symptoms. Reception (very nice woman) informed me that there is a charge for FMLA paperwork to be filled in the first place. My old office did not charge. So now, I am probably going to lose the job I love (because she would not sign) unless I find a new doctor that is willing to listen to me. Maybe she is a better doctor once you get to know her, I do not know. But just after a few visits I do not feel comfortable going back to her office. I felt like I was not being taken seriously, like I am some kind of shyster for asking for help, like I am being dramatic. I am giving her two stars because she did agree to refill my medication, informed me I can cut back on one, and wasn't necessarily mean. However, I will not be going back to this office and unless she's the only rheum you can get to, I suggest you find someone else as well. She has a poor bedside manner and seems to care much more for raw data than the personal accounts of her patients.

She is the worst Dr. I have ever seen. I have had rheumatoid arthritis for over five years. Numerous professionals and bloodwork indicate that I have severe rheumatoid arthritis. I took the time to have my previous doctor forward all of my records to Dr. Markovits to expedite my treatment and relief. Based on the questions that she asked me repeatedly, I don’t think she even took the time to review my records. She questioned my diagnosis and suggested that I’m suffering from something other than rheumatoid arthritis. Baseless! At one point I was suffering so bad from wrist and hand pain that I was basically crippled. I called her office to make an appointment and suggested that I could use Cortizone shots in my wrists. She told me that she can only give me one shot in one wrist, obviously an insurance thing. I hesitantly made the appointment which by the way was two weeks away. When I finally got to see her she told me that she doesn’t give shots but she would order the… Cortizone and I could inject myself, absurd! I could have received better treatment from my veterinarian. She is a complete hack and should have her license pulled.

I'm not a doctor & she was asking me what I WANTED.to do next. She's the doc., she should be telling me !!

Dr. Clara Markovits is the best doctor I have ever seen.
