Dr. Claris Edith Hidalgo, MD

I truly hope Dr. Claris Hidalgo is no longer involved in resident education. During our training, she was by far the most harmful and bullying faculty member we encountered. While she could be kind and attentive to patients, her behavior toward colleague under her rank was often demeaning, intimidating, and toxic. It’s a stark reminder that how someone treats those with less power is the true measure of their character.

Dr. H is a great doctor. I am alive today because of her dedication to my health. Over a year ago, when I met her, I was dying from CHF, Atrial fibrilation and a valve problem. I was not taking my medicines, and not following up with my care. Then I was admitted to the hospital and was so sick that everyone thought I was dying. That is when I met Dr. H. She educated me on my problems and what I needed to do to get better. She was compassionate and so committed to my well-being. She coordinated all of my heart care, placed me on all the right medicines and motivated me to get better. It's been a year since I met her. I've had my heart valve surgery, am taking all the medicines and my heart is much stronger than before. Dr. H is an excellent doctor. I thank her because she saved my life.

After a long illness with cancer and being bounced around from one doctor to another, Dr. Hidalgo took over my father's case. She is professional and compassionate. She took the time to listen to us, guide my family, and help my father receive the best care he could. She truly went above and beyond for us and we are all so very grateful to her.

She was one of the amazing Drs I've ever met. When my mom was in the university hospital she has treated my mom with other infection deceas Drs. If I didn't meet her there I wouldn't be able to save my mom's leg from (Cellulitis/ erysipelas ) She was so kind and gentle with my and she has the most kind heart to listen to the patient's side of the story.

Dr. Hidalgo was one of the best physicians that I encountered during my father's hospital stay. She was very informative, professional and compassionate. She helped us cope with a difficult diagnosis and went above and beyond to ensure that my father received the best care possible. I am very grateful for the amazing care she provided.

Terrible. Seemed very unprofessional and had competency issues. Treated my family as if they were beneath her. Don't recommend her at all.

Dr. Hidalgo was very understanding and took the time to help me understand my diagnosis. She even helped me with plans towards reversing my ailments which was the total opposite from the other Physician i saw 4 months earlier. She was very professional and take pride in her work and Is an asset to SIUH.

Dr. Claris Hidalgo is an amazing doctor. She is very professional, courteous, and very caring. She helped my family through a very hard time and because of her my dad is doing very well. Staten Island University Hospital is very lucky to have her.
