Dr. Clifford Cooper, MD

My husband recently hurt his back. He had a Zoom appt. with Dr. Cooper and was told to rest. His pain got increasingly worse and when asked for a referral for an MRI or to see a spine specialist he was told to go to the ER (during a pandemic). I am an attorney that deals with medical claims on a daily basis. As we all know, unless you come in with significant trauma an ER is not going to order an MRI. As I explained to his rude incompetent staff, if we go to the ER, we will get stuck with a huge bill and a prescription for pain meds after a 6-hour wait and maybe a referral to have an MRI, but more likely a " follow up with your PCP." Plus my husband is unable to go by himself so his pregnant wife (me) and his 23-month-old-son would have to take him. So I simply called a neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon who were happy to get us on the books and refer us out to an MRI. (Both calls took less than 2 minutes) Both surgeons confirmed going to an ER would be USELESS. Dr. Cooper's office… then sent his prescription to the wrong pharmacy, which should be an easy fix. . . Nope, took me 5 phone calls and an hour to sort it out. When I called the incorrect pharmacy, they responded, "Oh Dr. Cooper's office over at the Portland Clinic, ughhhhh they are an absolute mess over there and we all hate dealing with them." Needless to say, we will be finding a new primary care provider.

These comments are referencing 2 DIFFERENT doctors. The ones that are excellent are for Dr. Clifford L. Cooper from Long Island, NY. The others are for Dr. Clifford L. Cooper in Portland, OR. Big difference; two different people.

I made an appointment ahead of time, got to the office on time, I did everything right. He could barely be bothered to spend a couple minutes with me - didn't mind billing my insurance quite a nice bit though. He wouldn't listen to me about my symptoms, had his mind made up and prescribed me Advil for an ear infection, which I continued to have for a couple weeks after visiting. A frustrating waste of time and money.

Among the Best. We cannot replace him. Above all his skills, knowledge and proficiency, he cares about his patients. Never a cross word from him in 25 years of being treated. Rode in the ambulance with my husband when Artie was rushed to ER from his office in 1999 after suffering a heart attack. We have such a history with Dr. Cooper but overall, he is an excellent MD.

The best internist that treated me for 30 years. A man of great compassion. Can't find a internist as good as Doctor Cooper since he move from Long Island NY. Always made the right decisions for my health and the people I recommended to him. Miss his advise. Wish him the best of everything.

I wanted to establish PCP care, to follow up on the physical therapy I was receiving, and to have prescribed the appropriate medicine to go along with my treatment. I could not believe my ears when Dr. Cooper said that it was the last appointment of the day, that he had to go and did not have time for â??thisâ??, and to re-schedule the appointment 2 weeks down the line. I was taking Lorazepam at the time, and he did not even bother to ask the dosage or how long I had been taking it for. He did not bother to explore my back or neck, even though I was in pain and showing signs of it. Worst experience in a doctor's office in my life, by far. My insurance got charged $250 for the 10 minutes that it took him to kick me out of his office.

Dr, Cooper has been our primary physician for over 20 years and we are very pleased with the medical service and feel safe with him. When looking for insurance companies the first thing we look for is if Dr. Cooper is listed has a participating provider.

I have seen this doctor twice and both times he has been very good. In fact, I switched to him as my primary care physician because of those experiences.

"I don't have time for that. This is the last appointment of the day. It is really just for a sore throat and a cough, not to look at chest pains. You will have to make another appointment and come back another day"I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

This doctor took no time in making up his mind, after barely looking at my condition. I wanted a full examination, possibly x-rays, but he seemed ok with letting me go back to work IN PAIN.He had a judgemental "deal with it" attitude that I never thought I'd receive from a doctor. Overall, a horrible experience.
