Dr. Clifford F Roberson, MD

I’ve been seeing Dr Roberson for many years. He is very pleasant, easy to talk with and I’m definitely blessed to have him as my psychiatrist. His office administrator Lynn is also a wonderful person and I always enjoy my pre-visit chats with her.

My experience with Roberson was traumatic. He prescribed a dangerously high dose of a benzodiazepine (and other powerful drugs) that left me unable to function for years. I blindly trusted him because he seemed so "nice". The medication had me in a fog and I couldn't understand why I wasn't improving. Finally, when I listened to concerned family and began asking questions, Roberson FIRED ME with a certified letter, and REFUSED my phone calls. I ended up detoxing off the benzodiazepine on my own at home. I was unable to leave my bed and could barely feed myself for six weeks (I lost 25 lbs. in those 6 weeks) trying to get the benzo out of my system and Roberson and his equally cold and unfeeling secretary still wouldn't take my terrified husband's phone calls. Months later, my new psychiatrist and neurologist explained I could easily have had a stroke during this process. It's incredibly fortunate that I didn't. I won't even refer to Roberson as a Doctor. He doesn't deserve the… honorific. He overmedicated me, wanted that cash/check, and FIRED ME with a cold, impersonal letter when I dared ask questions about my treatment. That is ABANDONMENT and it is unethical.

I found Dr. Roberson to be very disconnected and purely a pill pusher. I went to him for several months and never spent more than 10 minutes with him face to face. Felt like his only concern was getting paid.

DR Roberson is very empathetic, courteous and caring. He appears to be a very intelligent, competent physician. The only down side of my experience was that there was no follow-up and their unusual payment rule. They do not accept credit card payments, only cash or check which I thought was really weird.

I saw Dr. Roberson during my stay at a mental institution. He was compassionate, caring, and had great bedside manner. He treated me like a human being and listened to my needs. He was swift and attentive when it came to getting paper work into my job and requesting a leave of absence. He got back to me when I had him paged. He does not over medicate patients and he correctly diagnosed me. He was instrumental in my recovery process. BEST PSYCHIATRIST IN THE AREA.

Great staff, Great Dr. But I always feel rushed. And Doc sometimes runs late.

I have recently switched to Dr. Roberson from another psychiatrist. I find him gentle, warm, respectful, and efficient. He won't ramble on or let you ramble on about things irrelevant to your diagnosis just to fill the time slot. He gently guides the conversation with pointed questions to stay on track for healing. His initial intake visit was extremely thorough. I have not had any problems with his office staff, as others here seem to have. I find her friendly and warm, though clearly focused on providing good administrative services. This is my assessment after 3 visits.

Dr. Roberson is one of the most knowledgable physician treating mental health in Middle Tennessee. He DOES NOT OVER MEDICATE or see you as just a co-payment. I wished I had found him sooner!!!!!!!!!! Pros1. When medication is needed he goes affordable route with generic and samples. He sticks with what works NOT what many get incentive/rewards for dispensing. 2. He is not afraid to think outside the mental health box to insure the best treatment plan with best results for the individual. 3. He practices multiple treatment options such as counseling and ECT, NOT just single medication therapy. 4. Location, office cleanliness and accessability far exceeds expectations. 5. He surrounds himself with other professionals and facilities demonstrating similar work ethic and education level. BE AWARE1. Office hours and appointmentds vary 2. Wait time is typically 25 min. HE DOES NOT RUSH PEOPLE IN AND OUT. HE IS PRESENT DURING APPOINTMENTS MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY.3. I agree with others… that his Office staff is not the friendliest. The person I deal with is very direct and has insurance info and co pays correct. She does confirm appointments!!! MD offices are not in practice of doing this anymore. They would rather collect a NO SHOW FEE. Staff is very type A and I'm okay with that!!!! :) I do not take it personally. It is my opinion my last mental health professional cared more about money than clients. Would rather charge you 50 bucks for missed/late appointment than confirm/remind. The office looked like it was furnished from a yard sale and my privacy was not respected. Any office staff has to be better than my past experiences. Dr. Roberson is the best at what he does. I have seen many therapist in my life, yet none with the ethical standards, professionalism, and genuine care that Dr. Roberson offers. His staff is not as approachable and caring which is a disappointment. He is not a pill pusher, in fact, assures you need it before even mentioning medication. He follows up and gives early notice in case of any cancelation. Dr. Roberson is effective and respectable.
