Dr. Clifford Teruo Tanaka, MD

The “doctor” puts minimum effort into diagnosing conditions and relies on what he is told which does not work well for elderly patients. The woman at front is also very unhelpful - they care more about there own personnel things than for their patients. Would not recommend this lazy and uncaring doctor... you can tell this doctor is bad because it’s eady to make appointments and always empty.

Have been a patient of Dr. Tanaka for several years, having transferred when I lost Kaiser coverage. He has always listened to my concerns and offered appropriate help. He has worked to change medications or provide new ones as necessary. I find it easy to make appointments and get along very well with the receptionist. I would highly recommend Dr. Tanaka as a primary care physician to monitor an aging patient with normal health problems.

The receptionist appears to be unstable. she has yelled at me on the phone. refuses to set an appointment with me. I ask her what I should do, she tells me to go to the ER. I go to the ER and they check with her to see if I was sent there because if not I owe the visit and insurance wont cover it. she tells them she did not send me there. I was on hold once and talking to someone I was with. she came back on the phone and yelled "what did you say?" I told her that I was talking to someone else. when my boyfriend called her he got an appointment in a day or two. when I called my appointment would be about a month away.

I work in the health field and have more than a dozen clients seeing him regularly. I was getting complaints from clients most of whom are challenged. I started listening in on their conversations with my clients. I was appalled. The receptionist has issues. She is rude. Does not listen and is condescending. I have kept meticullous notes and will be filing a compaint with RICOH and the AMA. I suggest you all do the same. If I could I would give no stars.

My experience has been very poor. Dr. Tanaka shows no interest in the patient, nor the complaint. He seemed more concerned about where I work and my tattoos then my reason for being there . He prescribed me some Naproxen without even examining the complaint.

The receptionist has the fakest sounding voice of pretending to care, and it comes across as super phoney. I should have known from the moment i walked in with the 2 man operation. Its almost as if once you have entered their office, you have entered THEIR domain. YOU HAVE. One of the most annoying things is that they dont take any cards. They run their office like it was 1952; cash and checks only!!! arent most businesses done by cards and credit? who carries cash on them now days? So if you dont have the cash, they usually let u slide till the next visit/billing monopoly; if you dont have the cash, prepare for a lecture. The receptionist got mad at me cause my cell phone was broken, and when we spoke she complained of an echo; i tried to explain to her that my phone suffered water damage; she didnt care. She then got huffy with me and suggested i find another doctor, stating i was "exhasperating" her. I called her back to change my work day, and stated i would be in at 2, of the same… day. When i went in for my visit she made the small talk rounds as if nothing had happened. She said "well its great that your working and you can save for your next trip to new york" Feeling annoyed i said " i get 4 hours each pay period; this visit cost me 2 hours." She retorted with "am I supposed to feel bad?" Now i admit to being delinquent with my return appointment and then to have them say"oh, your blood pressure is up..." small fudging miracle folks. When I mentioned this to the dr. that his receptionist had stated maybe i should find another dr., he essentially agreed with her. When i asked about release of information to my next dr. he was curt, and surly. I would/will NEVER see these 2 as professionals in my search for a new docotr again. Stay far away from this office.

I have spoke with several people and they have all left him. He has a receptionist that will not let you talk to him. The only way to get to talk to this doctor is if you make an appointment and pay to see him. He also will not give you refills so that you need to keep seeing him. An example is I have needed an asthma inhaler for 30 years. My previous Doctors would give me refills. This one makes me come in everytime.The receptionist is very rude and acts more like a bouncer than a receptionist. Don't even think of accidentally short your bill by a couple dollars. She will hound you until you pay.

Doctor didn't want to listen to anything I wanted. Nurse is one-man office staff, so snappy and unhelpful. Fax machine is broken - how much does it cost for a new one, come on!
