Dr. Coke Steel Gunter is a native of Asheville, North Carolina. He is a 1968 graduate of the University of North Carolina with a bachelor's degree in economics. He served in the Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974, and went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 1974. He began his practice of dentistry in August of that year.
Since then, Dr. Gunter has remained committed to continuing education in an effort to continually provide Hickory area residents with the most advanced, conservative dentistry care and treatment available. Dr. Gunter attends 25 to 50 hours of continuing education per year. He received his Fellowship in the American Academy of General Dentistry in 1984, a feat that requires 600 hours of continuing education to achieve. Dr. Gunter is a member of the Seattle Study Club, which is one of the most prestigious continuing education organizations for dentists.
Dr. Gunter is a member of the American Dental Association, …North Carolina Dental Association, Western Piedmont Dental Society, and is a past president of the Catawba County Dental Society. He also is a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), which oversees the educational requirements for the regulation of oral sedation in the dental profession.
Dr. Gunter is a member of Ascension Episcopal Church, where he has served on the vestry. He is also a member of the Lake Hickory Rotary Club.
Dr. Gunter’s wife, KC, has been an elementary school teacher since 1972. In their spare time, both enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
