Dr. Collin John Bemja Vas, MD

Reported his aggression to supervisor and things went downhill after that. He refused treatment when I asked. I’m reporting this to Medical Board for review.

The guy is a drug dealer... he diagnoses you and forces prescriptions on you without hearing you out and assessing all of the circumstances that involve your situation. Horrible person... do your research … this guy is untraceable... 20 years of experience but nothing is available on this guy... no medical articles , no experience outside of being a psychiatrist. He played the system and fell through the cracks... this is an outrage

I am bipolar type 1 and have had the privilege of having Dr Vas as my psychiatrist for going on two years. He sincerely cares about his patients, is very knowledgeable and works with them in depth to help his patients live a healthy life. When I have issues I am able to message him on the UT southwestern portal and he will get back with my either the same day or next. I don’t believe there is a better doctor out there.

Easy to talk to; I feel so good immediately after appointment which only lasts a few days then I go back to thinking about unpleasant occurrences in my life. He seems interested about my issues. He really wants to help me be mentally and physically healthy. Also Dr. Vas has a cool sense of humor.

I have seen this doctor 10 or so times. I kept thinking things would get better, but they haven't. My last appointment was one of my most frustrating sessions. This doctor has poor communication skills. When prescribing a new med he never talked to me about the side effects. At one point he decided to get me off some of the meds that I was taking. He just starting reducing the dosages and didn't explain what he was doing or why he was doing it. When I go in for my appointment, he never asks how I've been since my last visit. This would seem to be the best place to start a visit. It's obvious to me that he has never treated a person who was as depressed as I am or who is taking as many different medications that I'm taking. He's also found of asking me to do my own research on things. I think it was my second visit when he gave me a sheet of paper with the names of 2 drugs on it and asked me if I wanted to research these 2 drugs and then get back with him on the one I… wanted to take. I thought this was very strange.
