Dr. Conchita Guerrero Gavino, MD

Stay away from this Dr.!! My daughter saw her for over 8 years with no improvement! In fact she became more depressed! My daughter told her she did not think the medications were working, but she did nothing to reassess her, just told her she had a lot going on in her life! Her husband, Dr. Wayne Gavino is just as bad if not worse! He has been prescribing her Norco on a ongoing basis for a year to help her with lock jaw, knowing she is a recovered alcoholic! Dangerous Dr's!! Stay away from them for your own health and well being!!

I really wanted it to work out with Dr. Gavino, but felt like she was more of a drill sergeant than a compassionate physician. She probably does care about her patients, but it doesn't show. She's been doing this a very long time, and I think she's become too formatted. If I ever veered off of her line of questioning, she got irritated and yanked me back into formation. She refused to prescribe medication until I'd get a regular counselor. This is after I'd seen her five times and poured out my history and needs to. I've had several psychiatrists in my life, but Dr. Gavino's approach was so different...so cold. I wish she would have spent a couple sessions allowing both of us to get to know one another, prior to the hundreds of diagnostic questions she asked. Then I could have saved us both time and frustration, or maybe even seen a kind person under the qqqqclinical veneer.

I saw Dr Conchita Gavino and after explaining my situation, I asked if I could use alternative methods that do not involve medicine. She then firmly stated that we could not work together, if I was to ask this. She then became insistent on referring me to another doctor, and refused to evaluate me, even if I agreed to take medicine. After I had left, a friend of mine, who was in his last six months of medical residency, started a group call with me and Dr Gavino. Dr Gavino sounded particularly irritable during the call, and for some reason, it was obvious that she had taken offense to when I had asked for alternative methods, and she had also taken offense to when I had stated that I would take medicine 'for now.' She also brought up how she had called me after I left, to give me another doctors information. She did do this, but then she went on to say that she only did this, because of my willingness to take medicine. Even if she was unable to offer alternative methods, why would… my willingness to take medicine (which she still refused to help me with), make any sort of difference as to her referring me to another doctor? My friend had stated that I had the right to ask for alternative methods, and after the call had ended, he had told me that Dr Gavino was being 'ridiculous.' I feel like she was getting defensive, because she only knew how to prescribe medicine, and she did not know how to help her patients work through problems herself.

Dr Conchita Gavino listens to me and I feel she is really invested in my health and well-being. I would recommend her to anyone.
