I wanted a career that allowed me to make a difference by improving the quality of people's lives. Early in my career, I was fortunate to have a mentor who was passionate about pelvic floor care, which sparked my interest in this type of therapy and led me to specialize in pelvic floor therapy. \n In 2020, I became lymphedema certified and started to work with patients who'd been treated for breast cancer. It is in treating this patient population that I feel I'm able to make the biggest difference as a therapist. \n My focus is on patient-centered care. Therapists often have ideas about how to help a patient get better, but we must also be committed to learning about patients' goals and helping them achieve what they want. \n With a pelvic floor specialty, helping patients feel comfortable and encouraging them in their healing are imperative. Many patients who come to pelvic floor therapy don't yet realize that the difficulties they face are very common - and also treatable. They can …be improved. \n My family and I are originally from Virginia. We moved to North Carolina in 2020 after many years of enjoying our visits here. Our two kids keep us busy with their various activities, and we love exploring the mountains and having fun on the lake as a family.
