Dr. Courtney Regan Herbert, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Hervert for about a decade. I recently turned 65, hence went on Medicare. What I have since learned is relevant to patients of ALL ages. Dr. Herbert has 'opted out' of Medicare. The ONLY advantage to her, of opting out, is tthat she can charge patients any amount for any service. Patients must pay the full amount. She told me that she did not want to subim claims. If that was her consern, she would have become a 'non-participant'. Patients of non-participants submit their claim forms. Insurancwe coverage between participants and non-providers is the same. By choosing to opt-out’, physicians gain the right to charge patients whatever they want. When making money is your physician's priority, then treatments may be cared out for the economic gain to the physician and not for the wellbeing of the patient. I suggest you always ask whether a physician has chosen to opt out of Medicare.

The Dr. herself seems amazing, but I think she is not well-supported by her assistants. She instructed one of them to provide me with certain information, and despite my repeated questions the person never did!!! I am not sure if she was just unsure of the answer, but if that was the case she should have asked the doctor. I waited over 45 minutes and basically left the office with more questions than answers which was super frustrating.

Dr. Herbert blew off a spot and told me to put coraid on it. It ended up being skin cancer. She has a blunt and harsh bedside mannerS

Dr. Herbert is quick and thorough in her assessments, however she has the worst bedside manner. She makes negative remarks about her patients skin “you have too many scars” and she knows nothing about them or cared to find out. She’s rude. She has amazing skill; I wish her attitude matched her skill.

Dr. Herbert was very helpful in explaining my diagnosis. She was very informative and answered my questions in full and spent a lot of time with me. The wait time was minimal and the check-in/check-out process was seamless. Definitely happy that I chose this practice.

Had front staff call with cancer results! Too busy to speak to me. Very poor bedside manner. More concerned with her appearance than her patients.

Dr. Herbert is very rushed and quite rude. The reputation is well deserved.

Not a very positive experience. Poor customer service (bed side manners as we used to call it). Reception staff immediately asked for driver's license, insurance card, and credit card upon entering office before any niceties were exchanged. This was my first visit. Nurses were friendly and actually did most of the work. Only spent a few minutes with Dr. Herbert. Did biopsy on mole and was told would be notified within a week on findings. Ended up having to call 2 weeks later to get results the office probably had been sitting on. Definitely was left with perception that collecting money was more important than my patient care. Had to cancel a followup appt. at the last minute and was charged a $50 no show fee because I was unable to give 24 hrs. notice ... another attempt at collecting money!! They did waive it after I called and questioned the fee. When I told the office I was going to write an online review, nothing scathing, I was advised that after my next appt. I should… find another dermatologist because they wanted me to be 100% satisfied with their service, and I obviously was not. Was going to do that anyway. The entire experience seemed to me like assembly line medical care. Did cancel next appt. by the way. Dr. Herbert is probably a good dermatologist, but needs to re-evaluate the business side of her practice.

Just had an appointment with Dr. Herbert's office and was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Dr. Herbert was patient, thorough and, of course, very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend to others!

When you make an appt, they won't tell you this but if you are new you will be scheduled to see her associate, Dr. Doshi--who may be very good--but you should be looking at ratings for her instead. I did not appreciate waiting 3.5 months after explaining that I only wanted to see Dr. Herbert, having my appt rescheduled the week before I was supposed to go in, and when I finally did get in, being told that Herbert doesn't work on Thursdays and I was never scheduled to see her to begin with. Herbert called to say she is not feeling well, so the sub (Dr Doshi) was there to fill in. When I told her that was not completely true, that I was never scheduled to see her according to her staff, she got very irritated, told me that I am very inflexible and unsympathetic and blamed me for not seeing her "board certified" partner. Was that an apology?
