I grew up in Sacramento, and then attended college at the University of Utah, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. I then spent a year as a Vista volunteer (domestic version of Peace Corps), while also earning a year of graduate credit in psychology and management. I attended dental school at Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated with the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine, in 1977. I spent the next four years in practice in Sacramento with my father (Dentistry runs in my family! My father and uncle were both dentists, and their uncle also a dentist.  His son is also a pediatric dentist after spending four years in the Air Force. My niece is a dental hygienist and her husband also a dentist in the Navy), before relocating to Los Osos.
My primary focus is restorative dentistry or more commonly thought of as general practice. I practice all phases of dentistry with the exception of orthodontics …and pediatric dentistry for very young children (younger than eight years). I have excellent relations with the many fine specialists in the area—if a particular situation is difficult or unusual I can easily arrange referrals. This is fairly common in oral surgery (wisdom teeth, difficult extractions, jaw surgery), endodontics (root canals that present with particular problems), and periodontics (treatment of problematic gum disease, or cosmetic surgery). I also routinely do basic restorative treatment (fillings, repairs of cracks, chips, stains with the newest composite materials and techniques), crown and bridge procedures, from single tooth crowns to multiple and complete mouth restoration, using a variety of  beautiful ceramic crowns and porcelain veneers to basic durable gold crowns. I am also one of a dwindling number of dentists who long time experience with removable prosthetics (dentures and partials). And, as a wonderful augmentation to both dentures and crown and bridge I can incorporate implant restorations in to a treatment plan as well. I work only with local dental laboratories which use only the finest quality materials, do not “outsource” any of their work to overseas laboratories, and are available to provide special and personalized touches for the best cosmetic and functional results.
I am a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Central Coast Dental Society, and have spent well over two thousand hours in continuing education courses and lectures.
