Dr. Craig Steven Shapiro, DO

Dr. Shapiro may have years of experience, but he doesn't seem to have much empathy. He hurries with his appointments - doesn't even take the time to close the office's door and gets annoyed if you ask him questions about pros and cons of an upcoming surgery and its procedures, etc. I agree with most bad reviews that he (and maybe his office) treats you like a merchandise at an assembly line. If you dare to share your fears or concerns about an upcoming surgical procedure, know that he won't like it and won't have much patience in explaining it to you (and will cancel the procedure) - instead of simply taking the time to help you understand and be well informed about your decision - all of which would help you calm down and dilute your fears). The more we, patients, understand about a procedure, the easier we calm down and relax about it. We are called patients for a reason: Doctors need to be "patient" with us in treating us and in explaining what will be done. After all, we put our… lives in their hands - it is pretty normal to have concerns and to want to talk about surgical procedures with your doctor. But Dr. Shapiro doesn't have much time for that. All surgical doctors with as much experience as Dr. Shapiro should know that in order for patients to trust their lives in their hands, they need to feel care and empathy from the doctor. They need to feel comfortable with the doctor. I didn't feel comfortable with doctor Shapiro. He was always in a hurry and was impatient explaining things to me.

Doctor Craig Shapiro is an excellent physician, cannot complain about him, but the billing dept should not bill FOLLOW UP visits as routine visits, Sent Humana a secured message and Humana tells me follow up visits do NOT require a Co-Pay, but it depends how the MD bills the visit,, follow up visits should be billed as such. I have had a hard time breathing through my nose for many years and I resorted to fb and some reviews about Shapiro and gave him my full trust. I had a deviated septum surgery done about 2 years ago and after the surgery my breathing was worse. He then acted surprised and said omg I know exactly what the problem is, we never needed the first surgery we just need to have another surgery the strengthen the sides of your nose from collapsing in and we will take extra skin from behind you ear. After being all in already and hearing the great reviews, I did the second surgery. Shortly after I realized my breathing was a lot worse and continued to visit him over and over for him to tell me he is not sure what the problem is but saw that it wasn't as good as before and he could reverse it with another surgery. It has been about a year and my breathing is hirable to the point if I try breathing out of my nose, people ask me if I am sick. Highly do not recommend him, I then looked into him and… saw he had several malpractice suits pending which were very serious cases.

Several physicians highly recommended Dr. Shapiro's surgical skills. I was suffering from sleep apnea, asthma, and had a deviated septum, restricted nasal passages, polyps, and chronic sinus infection problems. My dentist told me my sinuses were creating tooth pain as well. Dr. Shapiro did the most exhaustive examination using the latest high tech tools and recommended extensive corrective surgery. Even though he was in the opposite part of the County, I was impressed by him so much that the distance was minor compared to his level of thoroughness and knowledge and his respect amongst his peers from all over South Florida. The surgery went off without a hitch, and I awoke being able to breath better than I had ever in the past. My cardiologist credited his surgery with lowering my blood pressure, and my internist credited him with vastly improving my overall health. Dr. Shapiro has practically eliminated all my previously constant sinus infections, and keeps a close… watch to catch anything from developing. His warmth and friendliness are like toppings on the dessert of great health. I have never seen a more efficient physician, one who actually enjoys knowing his specialty and takes the time to give you a textbook style explanation of what the situation is and what the options are. I have recommended him numerous times and so have my other physicians and dentist, and everyone reports the same satisfaction.

After spending the week-end with my mother at the ER for a severe nosebleed, I was instructed to follow with an ENT. After calling I went to Dr. Shapiro's office everyone was very professional and caring. Dr. Shapiro was amazing... he made sure that my 78 year old mother was feeling good.

Just today I went to the ENT clinic for the very first time.I arrived slightly early and did my paperwork.Before I knew it,I was called in.The nurse was moderately friendly,took my blood pressure and listed my condition under "Ear problems".She said it was convenient that way and then told me to wait for the doctor. Eventually,"Dr." Shapiro entered the room. He did not smile or properly introduce himself.Fair enough. I am not kidding when I say that this guy is a jerk. He asked me what I was there for and so I told him as best as I could. But no,that seemed to be too much for him.He sarcastically said that I was playing doctor and that people like to diagnose themselves. Buddy,I may not be a doctor but I do know research and COMMON SENSE. Why did he think I was there though?Supposedly,he's the doctor which is WHY I'm there. He said he was "trying to figure it out" and was annoyed when I tried to describe it as clearly as possible. It just showed that he didn't know ANYTHING. Besides… being rude and a smartass,he told me nothing. He didn't ask if I had allergies,my environment,past history.He didn't care. He barely checked and said I looked fine. My inner ear is FLAKY,how can you say that it's fine?? I know I had otitis externa because all of the symptoms are a dead ringer.Of course I did not tell him that because he didn't like my slight SUGGESTION of a possible infection in my ear. Finally I asked,"So do you THINK it could be my sinus allergies??" "Uh yeah,most likely." Then my mom asked him which was better,Allegra or Zyrtec? He danced around the question and said that people switch between them for effectiveness. She then said that Zyrtec makes me drowsy(duh) though. He was like,"Take Allegra then."Just ridiculous overall,only empty words and unprofessionalism is what I received from that mediocre doctor.I wasted my time and money there. That place is a joke..I would NEVER have some meager Nova southastern graduate operate on me.The several waiver forms that I had to sign are also a dead giveaway.

Dr. Shapiro has been my doctor for many years. He is very gentle and caring with my children, as well as, with my elderly mother.Dr. Shapiro's office staff are very helpful and accomodating to my hectic schedule. This is a caring office.

The doctor performed a surgery and the result were that the problem persisted and he would swear that he did everything right and that he took care of the problem. He persuaves to be a nice guy in a manipulating way with a tunnel vision of his diagnoses being the only true answer. This would be typical of someone who has malpractice on his resume. Knowing that what comes out his mouth and the lack of the clients understanding could mean the difference of a lawsuit or an untold mistake on his behalf

This is a for profit, factory medical office which runs like a fast food drive through. Dr. Shapiro has been reported to insurance companies for using medical procedures without patient consent and then keeps the profit he gets from performing the procedure because he can say it was 'medically necessary.' Beware, keep your eyes open and exercise your right to be informed before any procedure is performed by this doctor! Or you will pay through the nose!
