Dr. Craig L Slingluff Jr., MD

Dr. Slingluff is unique. For starters, he is a true expert at his craft. He is extremely detail oriented and he knows his stuff inside and out. He does a great deal of research and not only stays current on developments in Melenoma and to a lesser degree other cancers, but he actually IS THE current event! The research and development he does will one day likely lead to a vaccination for Melenoma and since it's the fastest growing cancer-it would likely pave the way to a broad spectrum vaccination.Dr. Slingluff has done a great deal in his career to pave the way to longer life spans and greater treatments for Melenoma. He is also a poet and has writes both about life and love but also from his unique viewpoint of medicine and cancer. Needless to say, he's well rounded! He'll never cease to amaze you. Such a full life--he is an example of how to live life to the fullest and leave this world a better place that we find it. He is inspiration. His bedside manner is professional. No one… would ever accuse him of being cold but he does maintain a healthy distance and has intact and healthy boundaries. He has to in this field. However, he does have an astounding compassion for his patients and he TRULY cares about them.He also treats his staff remarkably. It would be my dream job to work with a man like Dr. Slingluff. He will often times take money out of his own pocket in order to treat his staff to being able to attend a conference on Melenoma so that they may also reap rewards from their hard work.And speaking of hard work....he resist taking funding from any source that might try to cause his 'pure' research to be bias. In order to do this he spends numerous hours writing grants to try to find his own funding for his very costly cancer research. Sometimes he'll literally work more than 100 hours a week. So many people are not aware of how research is funded but if you understand then you start to see the picture of how extraordinary this man is. There is no other doctor in the world that I would trust with my health more than Dr. Craig. He is not only an A+++ doctor, he is an A+++ human being. He is a healer in the truest sense. He has truly given selflessly of himself in order to make a positive mark on the world and he has done so with grace, integrity and unfailing dedication and love. Thank you Dr. Slingluff. You make the world a better place. w.

My son was diagnosed with melanoma from a mole straight out of high school. I was recommended to Dr. Slingluff by a friend. My son has been cancer free for five years. My wife's first cousin had squemous carcinoma in her throat and now has a clean bill of health after he referred her to Dr. Levine. I feel that UVA of Charlottesville knows how to select people that know what they are doing. I now must face fighting this cancer again with my sister who has breast cancer. No doubt I have already referred her to Dr. Slingluff.

He is a great surgeon and researcher and is also a great person and has collected a staff that is as caring and conscientious as he is. He is the most knowledgeable melanoma person that I have ever talked with.
