Dr. Craig Michael Smith, MD

I highly DO NOT recommend him.

Does not care about patient. Beware.

Dr. Smith was part of a team that performed small bowel surgery on me. Dr. Smith did the follow-up care for me. He came in my hospital room each morning with smiles and encouragement. When he discovered I had to get out of the hospital to keep an important appointment dealing with my housing situation, he became very concerned after finding out how long I had waited for housing assistance. Dr. Smith greatly encouraged me to eat and walk so I would gain strength enough to keep that appointment. After consulting with his team members he came into my room the day before my appointment with a big smile and asked three times with a booming, resounding : "DO YOU WANT TO KEEP THAT APPOINTMENT?" When I finally said: "YES!" He pointed towards the door and said: "GET DRESSED." He was as happy for me as I was to be able to keep that appointment. I am happy to say all went well and soon I will receive much needed housing assistance. Thank you Dr. Smith for your… medical skill and concern for the total person. I want to thank the surgeons : Drs. Smith, Hurst, and Shorr for "fixing" me. I want to thank my primary Dr. Randy Hawkins for his careful oversight regarding my well being. Dr. Craig Smith misdiagnosed and incorrectly performed a surgery for a simple hernia repair that has caused me incapacitating pain and been the worst nightmare of my life. The morning of the surgery he boasted that I was the first of 13 surgeries that day and that he wanted to miss the Friday traffic to go skiing in mammoth. Then he told me he was unaware I had a previous surgery for prostrate cancer and he would have to change the procedure. It is inconcievable how he could miss a six inch scar from my belly button downward or the notes from our initial exam but his incompetence in entrapping nerves has caused me pain for two years that sometimes brings me to my knees. I have sen a number of pain management doctors, all at my expense, and continue to live the nightmare of Dr. Craig Smith's incompetence. He never said he was sorry. Others must feel the same way as his reviews are very below average.
