Dr. Craig Steven Swafford, MD

This isn't Domino's... The appointment was for 0930. At approximately 1020, I was taken back to the exam room and blood pressure taken. At approximately, 1102 I opened the door and asked very politely if the doctor was going to be in soon. The man sitting at a computer says, "We'll be with you shortly, this isn't Domino's." Excuse me? I was stunned. He continued to say that if I had someplace I'd rather be that I should probably go. I closed the door and almost stayed. But why would anyone stay after an encounter like that, so I left. I went back within minutes to find out the name of the man and to file a complaint directly with the Doctor. I waited a few minutes and the man who spoke down to me came and asked me to step back into an office. As it turned out it HE was the Doctor! THE DOCTOR! I tried to be understanding, he tried to explain himself. I told him I understood getting behind, that getting in the weeds happens. He was still dismissive and unapologetic for his choice of… words, told me “this is my job this what I do.” I realized a complaint needed to be filed and I told him so. He says “good luck with that I’m the owner of this company and CEO.” Former Navy Seal, Doctor, CEO, Owner, What should have been said would've been something more along the lines of, our patients are important to us. We're running a little bit behind. I had to take some extra time with someone else. We'll get to you very shortly. I would have been fine. But to say "this isn't Domino's". Disappointed with how you behaved Shipemate. I hope you can take something from this.

Let me add besides the great Dr he is, he hands down has the best nurses there in his office as well as the ones who took care of me at the hospital the day of my surgery. The young lady name Jessica in his office is absolutely wonderful and precious. She showed genuine love and care for me while I was there in their office. Thank you for taking great care of me.

Dr Swafford is hands down the best. He is very caring understanding and thoughtful. Great and easy to talk to about everything going on. Listens carefully and spends time with you. He ended up doing gallbladder surgery on me and he explained everything in details. And again took great care of me. I highly recommend him.

I would like to submit a letter of thanks and support to Rhea County Medical Center and Dr. Craig Swafford for their professional care and attention in helping me through a recent hernia repair surgery. I am a 69-year-old retired Rhea County citizen. My family doctor, Matthew Tinney, recently conducted my quarterly physical exam that indicated I had developed an inguinal hernia. Dr. Tinney offered several surgery options to repair the hernia. The option my wife and I decided on was to set an appointment with local surgeon Dr. Craig Swafford, who reviewed the records sent by Dr. Tinney and conducted a physical exam in his Dayton office. I was somewhat surprised when his charge nurse, Ms. Jessica, came out to call me into the exam room. Nurse Jessica was one of many students I had worked with through our local high school. The afternoon I went to the R.C.M.C. hospital, I met another lady I knew from previous high school and hospital visits, Ms. Sandra Douglas. Ms. Douglas is… always extremely pleasant and helps with hospital entrance procedures. Having any surgery procedure always presents some additional unknown risk and degree of concern, especially when the surgery requires you to be unconscious during surgery. The relatively few surgeries I have experienced requiring anesthesiology have always resulted in an irritated and painful sore throat after surgery. Prior to the procedure, Dr. Leah Watson came in and asked if I had any questions about the surgery. I told her of my previous throat issues after surgery, and she said she would make some procedural adjustments that should help. Dr. Watson was successful in whatever changes she made, as I never experienced any throat issues afterwards. Two weeks after surgery I had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Swafford and his P.A. student, Jeffery. The surgery procedure that I was earlier dreading was complete and on track to full recovery. I would strongly urge local citizens requiring procedures similar to this to trust our local doctors and Rhea County Medical Center to provide them with professional services. I am honored to have found Dr. Swafford. He not only is the best but also has a sense of humor but honestly is concerned for each of his patients and their well being. Five stars to Dr. Swafford, who performed my gallbladder removal. I have nothing but positive comments regarding my whole experience. The only negative thing I have to say is just the pain from those darn stones. Like most people, I read reviews and even discussed my situation with friends on social media. I didn't hear one negative word about him and that means a lot. I was concerned about surgery, like most people, and during my consultation, he explained things on my level, and answered all of my questions while reassuring me. After my initial visit with Dr. Swafford, I knew I was pleased with my decision in choosing him and that I had no reservations whatsoever. My surgery was an elective one and not an emergency situation, thank the Lord. Thank you Dr. Swafford for taking such great care of me. I highly recommend you to anyone.
