Dr. Showed concern

There is no other physician as patient-centered as Tuohy. He is caring, professional, and beyond perfect in his skill level. I have had 5+ colonoscopies over the years, as well as office follow ups and consultations. If he ever retires or moves, it will be a loss for St Elizabeth Hospital, the Enumclaw community and all of his staff and patients.

Went to Dr Tuohy on the recommendation of our long-time family doc. Dr. Tuohy is personable enough, but not helpful to my condition. Maybe he's only good with the easy ones??? Went in for my first colonoscopy at his suggestion. I understand those are never pleasant, but I was a bit apprehensive and wanted at least a word with the doctor before. Dr. Tuohy apparently didn't have time to come out to talk with me before or after. Other than a very cursory conversation with him in his office, there was no discernable follow up by him. My condition wasn't improved until I went to see another Gastroenterologist. Also troubling is that to get my medical records from his office (state or federal law requires that patients are given their records upon request) was like pulling teeth. It took several phone calls and visits to his office before I finally got them. What was most off-putting was his staff. One of whom was surreal to talk with. When I asked for my records, and happened… to mention during that conversation how Dr. Tuohy hadn't taken the time to see me on the day of my procedure, she became surprisingly defensive. She responded as though she was "charting for the court" as nurses say. It seemed she was just too experienced in receiving patient complaints. I felt creeped out after talking with her. My overall impression was that Dr. Tuohy is interested in generating a revenue stream through performing procedures; And if that helped his patients, fine; if not...oh well.

I had seen many doctors for crohn's disease before I came to see Dr. Tuohy. Some were awful & some where just ok but Dr. Tuohy is the best by far. He was recommended to me by a family member.
