Dr. Cristina Fe Garcia Mondragon, MD

Dr. Mondragon saw me for an ongoing infection. She spoke over both me and my husband, talked down to us, and actually refused to listen to me describe my injury that led to my infection because she “wanted to finish her thought.” Later, in reading her note, I saw that she had misunderstood whether or not my wound was healing. If she insists on saying that a wound is not healing when I have a series of photos that shows that it is, what else might she get wrong? No matter what, I don’t have the ability to endure being spoken to in such a demeaning and dismissive manner.

I've seen Mondragon since 2014 and at first she did some listening and communicated well. Something changed however and it's consistent with the negative reviews she's received here. She suddenly changed: lost patience, became dictatorial, aggressive and easily angered. Seems she may have difficulty if you have a disorder like depression, PTSD, anxiety, or recovering from addiction. Also, I'm very troubled by reading another review from someone else that had uncontrolled pain. Mine was when I awaited COVID delayed hip surgery. She allowed me to be in intense pain for months and acted like requesting pain medication made me a criminal which led to self doubt about the symptoms I was reporting. She also demanded I use a Nurse care manager I did not want, who did not help and would periodically call to chastise me with some complaint from Mondragon like I called the after hours on call doctor for five minutes??? Noticed she's the 'treasurer' of the Pdx Clinic Foundation which puts her… near their dynamic CEO. Now, I get it. She's climbing the ladder toward administration or some other leadership position. I think she may have a personality disorder and I honestly don't say this lightly but she seems BLIND to her own 'imperfections' and projects onto patients her dislike of herself (my reasoned theory after seven years observing her you may disagree and I could of course be wrong). I tried a gentle 'intervention' and requested a meeting to discuss my 'healthcare' experience (negative when it comes to treating PTSD). I waited four weeks for the appointment. I had been sure she was told I wasn't complaining about her but she was EXTREMELY DEFENSIVE. She used the whole appointment to explain why I was getting great care. I attempted to speak and she talked over me. I tried asking her to listen and she wouldn't. I told her I wasn't complaining about her or the Portland Clinic it didn't matter. She is SKILLED AT TALKING OVER OTHERS. She believes she is better than her own patients. WEIRD, kind of gives me the creeps. She conveys something much different to her colleagues as the Portland Monthly rates her a 'top doctor' with 5 out of 5 stars. But the ratings are not from patients they are from her co-workers. That's not a good sign when someone is that different with different groups of people. Her impact on patients she dislikes is pernicious as you won't be talking to other patients with like experiences and this leads to self doubt about your condition. She needs serious professional intervention and supervision which she will never get. Now I know why the Patient Experiences Department requested I follow through with a formal complaint against her and not just a request to change doctors.

Saw Dr. Mondragon because I had been having dizziness/fainting during workouts. She told me 'You're young, wear a seatbelt, you'll be fine'... Not helpful!

I came to Dr. Mondragon because I'd relapsed and had reached out to multiple practitioners previously who'd refused to take me on as patient. It took a lot to acknowledge that I needed help. I was frustrated that nobody would help me and Dr. Mondragon took that frustration personally. She proceeded to talk down to me like I was mentally challenged, or like I was 3 or 4 years old and not capable of understanding the English language. I asked her to not talk down to me like this. She chastised me for not reaching out to her for help. I told her 1) that I'd reached out for help from other health care professionals twice in the past month and was turned away; and 2) that I was here now, in the present moment, asking for help. I asked for a medication that I'd ask for ( an anti nausea med) that she's routinely prescribed to me before. Without any explanation, she promptly refused to prescribe me the medication. She didn't even have the decency to look me in the face when she told me no. She… talked over me multiple times, refusing to hear what I had to say about other practitioners refusing to take me on as a client. I left the doctor's office that day feeling incredibly humiliated, hurt, and angry.

When my long-time doctor retired, several doctors were recommended to me, including Dr. Mondragon. Based on her experience, I chose Dr. Mondragon first and have been very glad I did. I have no desire to look further. Dr. Mondragon is a warm, caring person who reads patients' histories before the appointments and really spends time listening to the patients and investigating their needs. I couldn't be happier with my new doctor.

Dr. Mondragon is very personable. She comes in prepared, spends time listening, and does a thorough exam. Thanks to her, I have received proper diagnosis and care that provided long-term solutions to my medical problems. She is one of the nices, most caring doctors I have ever met.

Very easly to cimmunicate with. She listens to problems and suggests activity that will help the patient. She has kept my illness in remission for several years .

Dr. Mondragon has an excellent bedside manner. She was easy to talk to and very informative and helpful.

I've never been treated so badly. Didn't care about the problems I was having, wouldn't listen to me tell her what was wrong. Complaine ...

Terrible diagnosis. Had diagnosis IN HER HAND and re-diagnosed as something COMPLETELY UN-RELATED. Then treated as that with no resolution to my problem. Maybe it was b/c she didn't listen to me nor read my medical history even though both myself and my history were right in front of her! Stay away from her! Not a good doctor at all!!!
