Dr. Curtis Howard Smith, MD

In 1998 I went to Dr. Smith with the suspicion that something was wrong with my reproductive system. My mother, my aunt & my cousin had died of ovarian cancer. Another aunt died of breast cancer. For 5 months I begged him for a referral to a gynecologist. I asked him to give me a CA-125 blood test for ovarian cancer. He refused. His response: "There are no symptoms and by the time there are symptoms, it's too late." I had all of the symptoms of it. He absolutely refused to give me a referral and insisted that he could handle everything in his office. If I hadn't bullied my way into an appointment at a gynecologist's office, I would be dead. I had stage 2 ovarian cancer. My children were 7, 9, & 11 at the time. This was 20 years ago. I have watched my children grow up because I left this man's care.
