Dr Cybil Corning, MD, FACS, FASCRS

I thought that perhaps having a surgeon with zero bedside manner or people skills would mean that Dr. Corning would perform excellently as a surgeon. I was wrong. Though she did my procedure with no problems, inadequate preparation and aftercare caused me to need a trip to the ER shortly after my surgery.

Dr. Cybil Corning, assisted by Sarah Plummer, FNP, performed a partial colectomy of my colon on Jan. 28, 2020. They removed a section of the colon on either end using laparoscopic robots. From start to finish, Dr. Corning and her team were accessible, professional, prompt, courteous and most importantly, caring. Because of Dr. Corning’s expertise, I avoided having my entire colon removed. Several nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital told me that Dr. Corning was highly respected and that I was fortunate to have her as my surgeon. I share that opinion.

From start to finish Dr. Corning and her team were accessible, completely professional, prompt, courteous and most importantly, caring. Dr. Corning’s expertise spared me from having a complete colectomy. My post operative care has also been excellent. According to several nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Corning is extremely well thought of and highly recommended. I join that chorus.

Had to have hemmoroids removed. I could not be more pleased by tbe surgery by Dr. Corning as well as her follow-up. Exceeded my expectations.

I discussed having a surgical procedure with the doctor. I was then called by the surgical scheduler and at that time I was unsure if I wanted to proceed with the procedure. At my next visit with the doctor I indicated I did indeed want to have the procedure. The doctor refused and said I’d had my chance and now she would not do it. I then tried to schedule with another doctor at the same practice and was told they did not allow patients of one doctor to be seen by another doctor at their practice. While my hesitation was a factor in the doctors decision I think a patient should be allowed to feel comfortable with a surgery decision before proceeding. Unfortunately Dr. Corning doesn’t believe the same.

I found Dr. Corning to be professional and helpful. When needed, she attended to my problem in the quickest way possible, gathering a team on a moment's notice.

On May 8, I had a total colonectomy at St. Joseph’s hospital, performed by Dr. Cybil Corning. It was a huge success because of the skill of this fine doctor. She is a kind and caring person who took time to listen to my concerns, and explain things thoroughly so that I could understand. I loved the care I received after the surgery as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Corning. She puts her patients first !

I was diagnosed with a complex horseshoe fistula last year and the Dr. told me that I needed to have a Seton stich placement surgery. Despite having an MRI done explaining the locations of the fistulas and needing three she only put in 2. Seven weeks later I was having another Seton stich put in instead of having on removed. Eight weeks after that she said she wanted to perform another surgery to remove on of the Seton stiches and see how I was healing. If I was not healing properly she was supposed to speed it along by scaring tissue. She told my family that I was healing fine, and did not mention that she sliced open a chunk of my butt cheek where one of the Seton stiches was. I think she performed a fistulotomy , but am not sure because she never told me anything. Twelve weeks after that she performed another surgery which was supposed to be an advancement flap, to preserve my sphincter muscles. However she did not perform this surgery, she instead performed a fistulotomy and cut… the sphincter muscles, stating that I was in too bad of condition to perform the advancement flap. I question what was the point of the 3rd surgery or the fourth? In my opinion she must not have been paying attention while she was operating on me. Also three of the 6 post ops were canceled, two of which were rescheduled one two weeks later. The last one I wasn't aware of until I was at the office and was told she was not there. I was told my house phone was called, which was a lie. They had called my work phone and left a message despite the fact I had not received a work release yet. Thus I am done with this Dr.

Don't go to this doctor , she is heartless and indifferent. I heard many nurses in the hospital comment on her treating people like machines with no regard for their feelings. If you really care for your loved ones don't ever let her operate on them. She is not compassionate and has zero bedside manner. Don't dare question this doctor, she thinks she's always right and seems aggravated by questions. She also has a terrible delivery of bad news, telling my husband he had a month to live and to go get his funeral arrangements in order.
