after my experience at CCMC ICU and being admitted i just about did not trust any doctor that came out of this hospital. There is a definite "hierarchy" attitude that comes out of this hospital. Everyone "just goes" with what the person in charge says and in my experience until I met Dr. Silva just about everyone BUT the doctors was right. However... my experience did change when my boy finally was treated by Dr. Silva. After years now of her very straight forward advice I know what it means to appreciate that. She will not hesitate to tell you if something is wrong. She will not hesitate to tell you to go somewhere else if you don't trust her. She will tell you when you need to either make a change or do something she knows you DO NOT want to do and unfortunately some of us are faced with rough choices. My son is the rare exception to his condition, she stood by my decision when I respectfully chose different advice than her own. We are human, you can't expect everyone to be… perfect but I can't deny that she has ever not been available during any emergency. Every bit of information I have requested I had received whether I like it or not. When you spend most of your child's life being moderated by a hospital there is nothing more important. However, Nephrology is just in charge of "nephrology" and there is only so much they can do or will do to monitor well-being and it is important to remember that. She is great with my boy and he loves her. The only reason he's made it this far is because of her. I'm sorry if someone who has seen her once can't understand this but no relationship is built in a day.

There is a fine line between direct communication and being rude. Dr. Silva lacks the compassion and nurturing bedside manner that a pediatric patient and their family desires. She does not carry herself with the level of professionalism that I desire

Dr Silva is very direct with her communication ....But to a fault. She often lacks the compassion that a pediatric patient and family prefer. Her recommendations can come off in a condescending way.

My daughter has had Dr Silva since she came to CCMC. We have been with ccmc nehprology dept. for many years. I absolutely LOVE Dr Silva. I am not a parent who likes sugar coating, I want reality told me and to be told how it is. That is Dr Silva. She is excellent with my daughter and is very professional and blunt at the same time. She put the patients interest first. I would definitely recommend her to anyone! Her staff is also amazing.

Dr. Silva has been my doctor for over two years now and she constantly wows me. She has gotten me through tough times but most importantly she saved my life. Dr. Silva is so incredibly smart and has saved so many lives. Going to appointments isn't hard anymore because Dr. Silva and her team always know how to put a smile on my face and I know that everything she does is for the good of her patients! I highly recommend her as a doctor!

On first appointment with my daughter she was rude, condescending and authoritative. I never got a chance to find out if she's a good doctor since she is too dictorial. Find someone else. The previous poster summed it up better than I did. She's bad news.

My daughter was a patient of another nephrologist and never saw her as a patient until she was admitted to the hospital and she was the on call Dr. Due to her lack of knowledge of my daughter,her treatment plan caused her to become sicker and have further complications. This not only happend once but twice. She has a horrible beside manner,egotisticle,condisending, speaks at you not to you, she treats the staff as if they are beneath her. She doesn't like when someone who is not a physician can tell her how things are.
