Dr. Cynthia Kay Seffernick, MD

My experience with Dr. Seffernick was horrible, and due to her, I had a very traumatic experience. I started having abdominal pains during the week of Christmas 2019, and I ended up going to the ER on New Years Eve. Emergency room doctors could not do anything for me, and they suggested I get a gynecologist. At the time, I did not have one, and the only person available was Dr. Seffernick. Before I could even see, I landed in the ER several more times due intense pain. When I finally saw her, she prescribed me a medication to start, and she prescribed pain medication. She said I probably had endometriosis, but she would not know for sure until I had exploratory surgery. When I asked her nurse to write up a doctor's note saying I could not work due to the pain, she would not write one up for me. Mind you, my work entails me driving throughout the state, and I should not be driving while I am on pain medication. However, nothing was written for me. It was not until I was in the ER… again, doubling over in pain, did the nurse call me that morning and say she could write the doctor's note. The ER staff did not know what to do, and they ended up giving me too much morphine. I was so out of it and not in control of my body, I went to the bathroom on myself as I leaned on my husband as we went up the stairs to my apartment. I also threw up. She also said, "You know what. You shouldn't even be taking that medication when driving. We will write up a note for you." Then, she said I was scheduled for the exploratory surgery -- the first surgery I ever had. In the surgery room, I asked the doctor if it would hurt. I was crying, scared of what would happen. She told me that knowing me, it would probably hurt. That was the last time I saw her. I woke up to my husband telling me I, did, indeed have endometriosis, and it was so severe the doctor could not do anything about it. The doctor did not wait around to tell me what would happen next. Fortunately, I was able to get another gynecologist, one who cared. I am thankful for the new gynecologist. However, even asking for my records from Seffernick's office turned out to be an ordeal. My new gynecologist requested the records, and Seffernick's office did not do anything. I requested the records several times. Nothing happened. It was not until I gave them an ultimatum and my husband went to the doctor's office that the record were finally given to us. She never called after the surgery. The doctors office never called me. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. Due to her, I have a very difficult time trusting gynecologist. It also has taken me a very long time to even write this review, because I cannot ind the words to describe how she made feel during this entire experience. If I could, I would give her a -10.

I waited (as patiently as possible) for over an hour past my appointment time to finally be seen by Dr. Seffernick for a simple consultation and much to my own dismay as I am too a busy person, I finally had to get dressed and leave without ever having been seen. I was extremely agitated as I effectively wasted two full hours of my day in an office - only to have to walk away. I have since scheduled an appointment with a different doctor who I presume can keep to her scheduled appointment times for the sake of respecting the patient's time also. It is a rare moment when I take time to write a review such as this, but unfortunately my experience at that office certainly calls for it. I felt as though my time and concerns were completely disrespected and dismissed. Dr. Seffernick may be a fine women's doctor, but I'll never know because I had to leave before she could get to the exam room.

I am currently a patient with Dr. Seffernick for my 3rd pregnancy. I started with her when pregnant for baby #1. She is very thorough and direct with information Throughout the entire process. She covers all of her bases to ensure the health of you and baby. My delivery went smooth and I felt that I could really trust her. My 2nd pregnancy ended early with complications and I felt she was on top of everything and there for me every step of the way. Her staff was beyond compassionate and very helpful. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area!

I found this Dr. to be rude and condescending.

Her mistakes and decisions are the reason I ended up with a csection.

I would avoid this doctor at all costs, we live 3 miles away from the location of her clinic and thought of giving her a try for my wife's second pregnancy, the so called doctor didn't provide the attention and care expected, this doctor along with her partner Dr. Elizabeth Nowacki, both are well trained by the office manager to order unnecessary tests especially those waste of time and money so called non-stress tests to overbill insurance companies. These test performed in a small room with a broken chair with a device that can't easily detect the fetal heartbeats, this 15 minutes test will extend to 45 minutes because of the old machine. Ultrasound test is another story, the doctor will send you to drive 20 miles west of indy just to have the ultrasound exam, maybe have a contract with them and could be getting $$ out of them. We had to do it couple of times but then we refused to drive all the distance over there, then she agreed to to have the ultrasound across the hallway, in… the imaging center there. Both doctors didn't bother to spend time with my wife in providing care, we were comparing these visits with the visits we had in our first baby, the visits in this St. Vincent center were very short, the doctor didn't explain the strategy in controlling my wife's blood pressure, wasn't sure of she is doing and avoided to do physical exam for my wife including measuring the circumference of the pregnant belly. We knew this place is all about money rather than health care. We requested to transfer our records to the doctor that delivered our first baby in community north and never looked back.
