Dr. Cynthia Lester Shepherd, MD

Got a referral and call their office per our PCP’s request. We were told the urgent appointment would be within 2 weeks and I would be called by the scheduling department. However, they never called. When I called a week later I as told the appointment would now be 4 weeks out. I don’t know how good the doctors is, but her staff definitely needs help.

My Primary Care Doctor referred me on an emergency basis in 2016 & I believe she worked me in on lunch hour. I was hospitalized shortly after and she monitored my care. Probably saved my life. I’ve had her see my spouse to get secondary opinion & testing. I’m see her now with another issue. She does prefer to meet you face to face for the important conference regarding tests & your health I believe. I find her to be to the point direct. My tests were so over the top detailed that I wouldn’t think it would be wise to have just anyone decipher their meaning when explaining the results and prognosis so this alone warrants waiting for her. Her no nonsense approach probably reflects just how busy she has to be with so many patients and must use her time wisely. My family is grateful to her.

I have no problem with staff or patient care but giving the covid 19 it would seem to be common sense to have a ear or head thermometer to take your mask off while someone is standing over you to check your temperature is not safe all my drs use the others surely couldn't cost much for public safety.

I thought it was just me she was. Old too.. I have PTSD and felt maybe she couldn't handle me.. Kept stick social worker in room... I am sad to find out reviews now... I had been patient over three years... Now my situation worse.. N I like find out where misstep happened. But they defensive n rude when ask simple questions.. Lik why didn't I have full body scan?! Would she of ever ordered one?! Ya feel she dnt care about me at all!!!!

My family member went in good faith to her as a referral. My family member was accepted as a patient given diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer and scheduled for several scans and a biopsy with NO explanation. This dr tho having a partner kept my family member as her patient and left for vacation for 2 weeks. When we called her office MULTIPLE times requesting call backs and results , we were told that her policy is to speak face to face with her patient to give results and that no option was available until her return. Upon her return "dr" shepherd saw my family member telling them that NO ONE else could speak with meet patient as per her policy. AVOID this person especially if you want care or Consideration along with your doctors bill. along with your doctors bill I consider her negligent and cruel but you decide... if you were dying and had questions about your disease and you were paying a doctor for your care and they weren't giving it would that be wise use of your… funds or the governments for that matter BTW her staff was very king and personable I really feel for them

When asking questions, her reply was "I have already answered these questions and I am not going to answer them every time we meet". Seems to me that she should answer anything asked, even if it has been asked before. People with serious medical conditions cannot always remember what has been discussed and a kind sympathetic reply goes a long way. This little girl needs to take a course in manners. We are looking into finding another doctor who we feel more comfortable with.

Terrible doctor. Very cold and rude to patients. Does not act like she has any interest in what is going on with the patient- like you are inconveniencing her if you ask questions or have problems come up during treatments. Absolutely horrible bedside manner. Would NOY recommend this doctor to anyone. I have switched from her and know that many others have as well. Not an asset to UCBC. It's a shame that someone dealing with cancer has to be treated poorly by the one person that should be lifting them up and listening to their xoncerns.

I loved this doctor and now because my insurance has changed, I will have to go to the other cancer center in Athens. I am soo disapointed. I do not want to leave Cynthia Shephard.

This office was full of rude people. My personal payment plan was announced to the entire lobby of people. Dr. Shepherd seemed overly zealous about and issue not related to my current situation. From start to finish this was a very disappointing appointment.

The office staff is rude and I have heard them yelling at patients. They are lucky it wasn't me! The doctor is cold and stand offish. I think they are in it for the insurance money because their attitudes rude, cold and callus. Shame on them!
